Mine are scheduled for the 22nd. Porsche dealer said they’ve done it before with no issues. I am aware of lip exposure but I can’t see how 5mm per side is going to provide any reasonable protection. It has more to do with tire wall structure and design. Some tires protect better than others. Unless we are talking about 305 squeezed on 11inch rim then the bubble effect has significant force to save the wheel against curb rash.

I am a sucker and got the OEM Turbo S rims with Pilot Alpins. The Turbo S winter set is narrower than the 12 inch wide GTS rear wheel (forget whether the rear wheel is 11 or 11.5 inches wide). And the 305 summer tire leaves the lip of the rim almost fully exposed, I could only imagine it would be worse with a 295 tire. My dealer was uncertain whether it would work, and I decided it wasn’t worth the risk. The silver rim happens to give the car a different look, so I get some contrast among seasons.

Looks great. Felt the same way. Already have some small lip damage with the 305s (not curb rash (thought it was ) but seems more like it caught the edge of a road plate). Now I think I will need to order the black stone guards looking at yours!! . Which ones are those and were they easy to install?

Thanks! Actually had the same issue with the lip on my rear driver side tire (also a road plate I think) which is why I decided to play it safe. Re: the stone guards I had my dealer add them pre-delivery. I saw them on the sales manager’s GT Silver Targa GTS and loved them so I asked abt the guards and they put them on my car. They called them 930 style stone guards, I believe. Sorry I don’t have more details.

Thanks. No worries. I have a 1 inch minor shear on the drivers side rear. I had thought it was the Belgian Block on my driveway and I brushed it unknowingly (when backing the car out of the garage) but later realized the angle would not have made that possible. I touched it up with black testors paint pen so it would not catch my eye.

Looks awesome. My original plan was to do what you did (I'm a sucker to) because I like silver wheels but that's when I went around and around with the first dealer about 295s not fitting the 12" inch wheels. The second dealer said the 295s are fine and it seems many are doing this. Now, after seeing your result, I'm back to getting the 295 Alpins. You just might have cost me some more money seeing this!!!!

BTW I'm not going to drive in measurable snow. I mainly want the tires for the temps below 40 to maximize seat time in my 911.

Agreed. Your car looks great! I too am a sucker and am on the verge of getting the turbo s winter setup for my GTS as well. Did you order from suncoast or go through the dealer? Did the dealer stock them?

I was originally thinking to just park it for the winter but the more I think about it our NY winters can last through the end of March. That’s just way too long to not drive it!

Those look awesome!!! I actually prefer the silver look.

Are centerlock wheels hard to swap out or did you have a dealer do it?

Got the 295's on the 12" rim today. Don't look too bad, definitely not as much lip as the fronts but still has a little.

Agreed. Looks better than I would have thought / understood. Not much different than the 305. I am already done (bought the OZs) but seeing it now would have made that a tougher decision.

Bikerlee- thanks so much for sharing. I think they look great! I love the OEM turbo S wheels but after seeing this I think I’ll save some $ and go this route.
