Agency Power makes some that aren't CF. I bought the CF versions but not sure if I want to use them anymore. It blocks the ACC controls/stock and the size looks a little bit odd to me now that I am able to see it in person.
Can we all admit the paddles are better on the #1 cars?
(just kidding)
Interesting that a debate as polarizing as PDK vs manual and 3.8 vs 3.0tt is should the paddles be attached to the wheel(like on Porsche) or the steering column (like ferrari). I don't know that Porsche will change but I'd much rather have them stationary and a larger(better) design. Some say that stationary paddles add confusion if the wheel isn't at 12 o'clock but I say you shouldn't be shifting if you're turning.
I've never had any issues with Porsche paddles. I find the 991.1 sport paddles to be perfectly fine. I have driven Ferraris and Porsches on the track, and I prefer the Porsche design. I haven't yet driven a 991.2, but the paddles seem quite small. I've heard good things about the improvements in the paddle switch in .2 cars though, with a shorter "throw".
I like the small, std ones. If you keep your hands in the standard 3 and 9 oclock positions, they are in the right place for your fingers to use while on the wheel.
A nice thing about the PDK is that it has smooth shifting and you can shift in corners while tracking you car. It will do it for you in corners if you are not doing it yourself. If you are shifting yourself while turning, it is better to have the shifters move with your hands on the wheel.
I do find the 991.1 paddle throw to be a bit long. Shifts happen much faster with the actual gear shift lever. One way around that is to get the new steering wheels of course, but is there a cheaper way?
