Feeling a little foolish and weird for spending $150k on a car

The way I see it is I can either have a Porsche sitting in my garage or the equivalent cash or payment sitting in my bank account. For me, the former is more enjoyable. For some it would be the later. To each his own.

I hate people that make this argument, any risk to your 20% return? How many times have you taken a loan against your so called savings? Why do you think smart financial people will loan you money at that rate? Do you max out you mortgage? Do you max out your margin account? You can make more money in your ETF, you should leverage every dollar you can. How much money do you have in bonds? Should you move all that into aggressive growth?
I recommend never taking financial advice from a car forum.

Beginning of last year I paid off my property in full cash. Not a bad or dumb move by any means but I fully regretted doing so a few months later. Had I not done that, I would have (not could have) tripled that money while still making very comfortable payments on my property which made practically no dent in my account. I took the old fashioned way which was not the best way.

So, I finally figured out a way not to feel foolish about a $150K spend in 2014. I bought a new GT3 in September 2021.

I went through something similar. There is a period of time between you committing and you enjoying the thing. That’s like purgatory of sorts. You feel the pain of spending but don’t feel the enjoyment yet.
Once you get the enjoyment, it will all be better

His post is pretty good IMO. You take a risk getting out of your bed every morning. Life is a gamble.

you should take out the biggest mortgage you can, margin your brokerage account, borrow money from your mom, and just triple it.
good luck.

That's awesome, congrats. While many people view Porsche GT cars as another type of investment vehicle (pun intended) with the fewer miles added the better, I've seen enough of your posts over the years to know you are enjoying it as intended!
