second this. The first gen sq5 is an awesome drive, I love it. Great handling and the engine is fantastic, feels like a large n/a engine.

great value used too.

Can’t get past the fake “tailpipes” on the new version.

No...I think my wife and I feel it would be 'too similar' to our '12 Q5 w/ the 6cyl engine. I think we both have the itch for an entirely different car (and one reason why the Macan, while being awesome, isn't at the top of our list...

We owned a '10 Q5 with the 3.2 V6 TFSI. Just bought a loaded SQ5 two weeks ago for the wife with the new Turbo V6. Absolutely NOT the same vehicle inside or out. Ridiculous fake tail pipes, but everything else is amazing about it. Tested every vehicle in the class. For the price, you can't match the SQ5.

How was the SQ5 compared to a Macan (GTS or Turbo variant)?

If the vehicles priced the same, I would buy the Macan S/GTS/Turbo over the '18 SQ5 because even though the performance is great on the SQ5, it is NOT in the same league as the Porsche. The variance in MSRP starts at roughly $20K between the Macan and SQ5 and that is without the additional bells and whistles you'd add to a Macan since they are available. My wife didn't care about another P Car. She wanted Apple Car Play, and 'to sit up higher' than in the BMW. We were used to the Q5, and really were impressed with the features in the new SQ5, so that's how we got to where we did.

If not driving the 911 I have a Macan S or Jeep Wrangler Sport tô choose from. Usually choose the Jeep, wife takes the Macan.
Considering to add an Alfa Giulia in 18.

my wife had a 15 q5 3.0t sport package before it got totaled in an accident.

We now own a 2015 macan s with all the options and test drove an 2015 sq5.

Imo neither car feels anything like the q5, even with the same engine. The sq5 engine is a monster that sounds and feels awesome, better than the engine in the macan. The handling is awesome too.

the macan s is another level of handling and ride comfort (ours has the air suspension), and is a phenomenal car and a huge step up.

We also paid 46k for our macan s with an 81k msrp with 20k miles on it. The sq5 was close to 40 with the same miles. Great used value on both.

But, I get where you are coming from. That said I suggest text driving both.

2015 Mazda 3 (lease is up soon). Great car, great price, highly recommended for an appliance vehicle with some semblance of driving dynamics.
