Post Porsche Sports Exhaust is it really worth it? Video comparing PSE vs non PSE

The option that is so often pushed by dealerships as a must have is the PSE, but in the 991.2 does it really make a big difference? I did a quick video comparing the PSE with non PSE and point out some of the hidden features.

Hope it is helpful to some of you.

Nick

Wonderful video Nick. Thanks for sharing. I do like the PSE sound but like you would forgo it on this car for the sake of 4 pipes. Especially on the widebody cars I prefer the widely spaced 4 tip layout.

Cheers,
NF

It's all subjective. For many people the whole 911 isn't worth the cost let alone the PSE.

Great video. Your comment about how the PDK brings in a little extra exhilaration is the reason why I wound up with a PDK instead of a manual. It's better at being a sports car than I am. A comparison between 991.2 PSE vs the 991.1 without PSE would be interesting. Again, wonderful work on the videos, they've had some influence on three of my car purchases now, F80, GTI, and the 991.1 C4S. (I don't think there was enough warning about how awful the exhaust is on the S55 engine though ...)

In the clips beginning at 5:36 I actually preferred the tone of the blue car and I've been a big fan of PSE. Could have been mic placement due to the exhaust being in different locations but the blue car has more growl.

I love my PSE but I HATE the centre pipe look. That alone would give me pause.

Hopefully one of the aftermarket companies will solve the problem.

while the PSE is a nice option on the car, we do understand that some people would like some room for performance and sound gains over a factory system. We are offering a system for both center-exited and side exited exhausts. These offer a 200 Cell HJS German made cat which are extremely high flowing and durable.

We have created the Non PSE exhaust for this car,
knowing that some people will have mixed feelings about the centered exits.

Good vid!
Not a fan of noise with no performance gain.
Not really a fan of lots of noise anyway.
Much prefer the 4 pipe look.
No SE for me.-Richard

I personally not a fan of modified exhaust just for more noise. If you think this is not fake, the speaker generated noise from bimmer, or ricer style muffler or exhaust add-on may also be acceptable.
Just personal opinion.

edit:stupid auto "correction"

The snap, crackle and pop are annoying in my opinion. So fake. I have a 2017 C4S with PSE.

I have the AWE exhaust for my 991.1 not to just make it louder but to accentuate the whining from the NA flat 6 at high rpm. I like it for the most part. It is a bit too loud though. I get the hyperbole in reference to the bimmer noice, but the memories of the F80 M3 exhaust just gave me the chills. Still can't believe they approved that sound, and then covered it up by injection fake v8 sounds into the cabin.

Agreed, I don't understand why so many people like the exaggerated crackling. Images of an old honda civic pops into my head. Mild crackling I don't mind...

Helpful.. not... whatever you want to call it I don't like it. the .2's are great cars but don't sound as good as the .1 and the "manufactured" aka fake S, C and P make it worse.... IMO.

A significant part of the enjoyment one experiences in driving the best sports cars in the world is aural pleasure. As a matter of fact, aural pleasure encompasses a huge part of life itself. Imagine if you could not hear the wail of that wonderful flat 6...or your daughter asking you to double her allowance because she thinks since you have a Porsche you must have a money tree..or your wife who spends like you have a money orchard ...or your mother-in-law who...wait a minute, I may have to rethink some of this. Carry on.
