Personally having owned a GT3, I just can't wrap my head around this. Whether it has a wing or not, it's still a GT3 and meant for the track. I highly doubt that GTS owners would pick this over their car, just because a wing is eliminated. Completely different cars meant for different purposes. The GT3's brakes, suspension, transmission, and engine are components of a race car, it doesn't even feel right until the car is completely warmed up. And you really have to push it past 6K RPM constantly for it to feel alive, not to mention how low the car is.
So, the track [true GT3 purists] will call the car rubbish for no wing + too soft + slower gear box.
For the person with deep pockets wanting the best street car (also NA + 6 speed Manual) car Porsche has ever made, this is it.
to each their own. Until they make a cab I don't have ambitions to own one.

There is a place for this car. It is said to be far more compliant than any previous GT car on the street. This and it has a manual SIX SPEED!

Ofcourse there is always a place, it's the marketing genius of Porsche, that's why they have so many 911 variants. I dont think it has anything to do with deep pockets, GTS builds are already around 140, it's just a bit more...I forgot to mention how ugly this looks without a wing! you put a regular 991.2 GT3 next to this, and it's like as if someone emasculated it. LMAO

Car and Driver posted a review of the GT3 Touring today. If I didn't already own a 991.1 GTS manual whose limits I have yet to reach I might be tempted by this, but not if it has an exclusivity premium attached to it.

And there we have it another Porsche that we are not going to be able to buy. This **** is getting annoying.

J/k...I just got a 991.2 C4S. The wife would kill me if I upgraded. Hopefully market stays strong. GT3 in a few years from now. To be honest I still need to extract the capabilities of my car before I can justify a GT3 beyond just the cool factor.

I personally have no interest in this car. When I get a GT3, I want a wing and I want to track it.
However, if they put back seats in and made a Cabriolet version it would replace my current GTS cab as a DD!

yeah, but really?
While I agree with the crux of your argument, specifically about the importance of the driving experience for Porsche enthusiasts; but regarding this statement, "There are many cheaper less desireable cars than a 911 GT3 or GTS that have faster lap times.", really?? Are you sure about that?
Please name one new stock car that is as fast as a 997.2 GTS at the same or lesser price. I'm curious to know.

since when has owning a Porsche 911 been about the fastest lap time?! There are many cheaper less desireable cars than a 911 GT3 or GTS that have faster lap times. Even within Porsche's lineup (a 2-3 year old 991 Turbo S would kick the *** of of similarly or higher priced new GTS or GT3).
We buy buy these cars for the feeling of driving them, for how they look and sound, for how they're put together, and for their heritage. this is why people want a GT3 with more creature comforts and less racy outward appearance, for the next level feel/sound of its glorious 4.0 NA engine v the GTS's muted smaller turbo.
