If you have something sharp and heavy in a fairly packed frunk, if you hit a big bump, the object could bounce upwards causing a reverse ding (gnid) in your hood. Or, some unlucky guy or gal in a hurry could let the frunk close without checking that the edge of the hard luggage was stowed properly.

I have one. I think it makes the underside look more finished.
I'm not worried about a dent or dimple. I'm more concerned about abrading the underside paint from overstuffing the cargo hold.
