Default "The new 911 Carrera" (2012.5) Production numbers?

"The new 911 Carrera" (2012.5), in its launch color (platinum), is proving to be a little hard to find.. Anyone know the production numbers for the 1/2 year for the 2012 Launch Cars compared to other 991 years?

Launch car:

Are u implying it's a collectors car?

I think you may be onto something Freeman, if the 2012.5 cars were only made for a few months in 2012 I would think the numbers for certain colors could be pretty small.. These could be a collectable right under our noses.. I am thinking of moving from my 997 to a 991 Launch Car if I find the right one.

There were plenty of launch cars (2012.5 991's) in other colors. My first 991S was a launch car in Basalt Black.

Any idea on where to get the production numbers of the 2012.5 compared to 2013 or 2014?

I wouldn't get excited about its collectibility.

That is why I am trying to find the production numbers compared to other years to see if they are worth chasing. Unless we know the production numbers for the half year of 991 production in 2012 we don't know if it is a future collectable.. If production was the same as 2013-2015 (full 12 month production years), then I agree with the 2012.5 having little collectability over the others... But if it's production is half (or less) compared to subsequent 991 model years, then it is just a matter of time before they are coveted as naturally aspirated cars without electronic rev matching assistance etc..

I have one. Platinum Silver still my favorite. That said, it depreciates like all the other colors.

For reference - my '95 993 was an early 94 build launch car in launch color polar silver - nothing made it more collectible than any other 993 NB after 22 years. You may be waiting a while. Just my 10 bits.

cheers!

Call Germany - they can find it for you in their library. Might take a few weeks.

I know Platinum Silver was discontinued. Was that color only in the 2012.5?

Nope, it was also available on 2013 models. Basalt Black (also available on launch cars, as my 2012.5 991S was a launch car in Basalt Black) was available 2012.5-2014.

Aqua Blue was also available 2012.5 - 2013 (replaced by Sapphire Blue in 2014).

None of these colors will be particularly collectible in any way. PTS colors are another matter...
