Right now it's either to a dealer for simplicity or a friend acquaintance for +2k more if he steps up to the plate or simply just 85k

I think you should ask $85k. If it was not a PDK I would probably buy it off you. Good luck with the divorce. I had to sell my favorite vehicle, but I bought it back years later. :-)

From Steve Miller Band, take the money and run. At least it'll be a clean transaction, private sales are sometimes difficult.

I traded a 2013 Base C2 991 for a 2015 991 GTS at a Porsche dealership. They gave me a very good trade. While the GTS was being built in Stuttgart I sold the Base C2 991 to a private party for more than the trade in I received from the dealer. I sold it to the private party. When the GTS was delivered, the tax would have been based on the purchase of the GTS less the trade in of the 2013 991. The bottom line is that the outright private sale, though it was in excess of the trade-in value, yielded far less than the trade in when considering the tax less the trade in.

Not trying to blow up any potential sale here for the OP, but just a word of caution to any potential buyer....in this thread OP was touting his launch control technique often performed in this non sports chrono car. https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9811...technique.html
Ironically, most of his posts were deleted by him....but you get the gist from some replies who quoted him that his technique may not be "per the operator's manual".

It's true, sales tax is something you need to consider when weighing private offers. In most states you can subtract the trade-in value, so you have to add the value of sales tax on top of the dealer offer when comparing it to a private sale.

It seems like a non-issue for him as he is not buying another car. It is also state specific so some states make it so you should trade in to get the tax break others you get the credit on a private party sale or you don't pay tax on a private party sale.

My plan came from a reliable source
He realized a RLer might not want an "abused" 911?!
