Damage due to impact or road debris won't be a warranty item.
Just like stones piercing one of the heat exchangers in the nose aren't a warranty item.
I extend the front air damn only on smooth roads when I think some extra down force might be useful and retract it on surface roads.
How it looks extended is irrelevant to me since I can't see it from the driver's seat.

I don’t worry about it at all. My last two cars were lower than the TT and have a lot of front overhang so I have the habits like going at a significant angle when there is a grade exiting a gas station. That usually is all it takes, but I can retract the spoiler anytime my spidey sense starts to tingle too.
If I do eventually break it yeah it’s expensive but so is everything else with the car. I just treat it like a nice car and exercise a reasonable degree of caution. This way I’ll probably write a few checks over the long run but I’ll enjoy the car ownership experience a great deal more than if I worried and got anxious about it.
So I’d say take care of it, but beyond that drive it however it pleases you!

Dave and ace37 as well as everyone else thanks for the input. I'll just drive with my best common sense and enjoy my car. Should be finished this Friday 10-13-17.

Agreed that leaving the spoiler up all the time seems a bit 'amateurish', but I also agree that the front end of these cars look better with the spoiler down - like a splitter extension bringing look of the frt end down further. I've been running around normal traffic and various parking scenarios, and have yet to scrape the front on anything.
Unlike the lip from my 997.2 TTS, which the smallest bump on a curb (without the conveniences of the 991 park assist), left it rashed-up beyond belief.
Within the past few years, the 997.2 and my current 991.1 hasn't 'bottomed' out yet - unlike the oem and the cf splitters I've had on my '13 GT-R, as well as the C6 Z06 prior to that (the latter's vertical lip that hangs down, scraped coming off my driveway - lame).

I drive with my spoilers retracted 99% of the time. I live in the mountains, and ground clearance is a big issue for me. My 997 turbo had less ground clearance than my 991 turbo s, and I had to replace the 997 front spoiler every so often.

The thing of it is that 99% of people who see your car on the road will not really notice what the spoiler position is. When you are driving the car you cant see how it looks so who exactly are you trying to impress?
Let it work how it is designed to work is my opinion.

If you were well endowed would you walk the streets with your junk hanging out. If the answer is yes, up goes the spoiler.
If you think it's better to be a little more discreet than let it go up and down on its own.

Any 991 turbo model spoiler in any position is far less aggressive and “look at me” than the fixed wings on a stock 991 GT3, GT3RS, or GT2RS. They aren’t cup cars so they drive on the street all the time.
Maybe I’m just young, but I like the look of the aerokit spoiler (down and) up, and I like seeing the black rear wing in my rear view mirror against the red car. Makes the kid inside me happy I guess. To each his own.

Hi,
Like others I drive wit the front and rear extended about 50% of the time, I practice common sense and try to use it when needed...always, when down in Mexico. I must say that I also like the look of the rear wing when you look through the rear view mirror ;-) and with the tilted sunroof it looks even better after 75mph!
