Question Launch control - Where??

I've had my 2017 991.2 Turbo S Cabriolet for a full year, and I have yet to try launch control. I live in southern Rhode Island, and I can't figure out where to perform 0-60 or 1/4 mile times without the possibility of being nabbed by police, crashing into other cars, or mowing down pedestrians.

I have the ODBI thingy and lots of iPhone software. Where do you guys do your launch control runs?

Every red light I can on a quiet road after first checking for cops around.

I've done it once in my 2 years of ownership. I'm also cautious for the reasons you've mentioned. lol

No where!

I've still never done a launch control. Car seems fast enough to me just mashing the pedal.

Thanks to all commenters. I'll be going on a search for a secluded straight road.

I sometimes do it on freeways with stop lights and high speed limits. My one year old loves it.

And I love that grand tour clip.

Here's my question: with my M3, the scuttlebutt was that launch control works well...but for the love of all things holy don't ever use it or it will tear the car up (clutch, etc). Is it the same way with the Panamera, or is it just a matter of play with it if you dare (risk a ticket)?
(This is not likely, by the way. I haven't gotten a ticket in about 30 years.)

I'd expect the 911 and Panamera transmissions to enough in common to not worry about the transmission reliability with a few dozen launches over a long term. I got a kick out of that 911 turbo S launch control test a few years ago:

For the 50th anniversary of the 911, Road & Track did a review in which they wanted to see just how much abuse a 2014 Turbo S could take before going into limp mode (of some sort) and set out to do 50 launches using full launch control (a Porsche engineer, when asked what the limits are, replied "There are no limits"). They posted a YouTube video of the process (and actually went beyond the 50 launches - they got tired after 61 launches). The car never went into any sort of limp mode and times varied no more than a couple of tenths of a second from one launch to another. They ended up driving away afterwards like nothing had happened.

So the chances of breaking a Panamera are probably slight - Porsche builds cars to use the capabilities they put in them and remain reliable.

ETA - I see Ace beat me to it - that's the video!

So I did play with LC a few times this week. Oh my...this is a 4-door sedan!? I showed my wife, and got that half-grin, half-eye roll. "I'm happy for you, dear." I made a semi-naughty remark about what possible physiological reaction she might have had, and got the full eye roll with "Oh, good grief!" Marriage is such a blast.
