Hi Stealth,

I have a quint ALP system on my WRX STI and an STiR+ and am pretty happy with it except for the size of the ALP heads. I really like the Stinger VIP system but reading some of the posts on the RDForums, it seems Stinger still has lots of bugs to work out.

Thanks,

John

If I was doing it again I would get ALP jammers, and for the radar I would do either Escort Max 360CI or the Stinger VIP Radar.

We are same demographic. You,'ll be surprised at the rate. My 2017 Turbo S Cab is less than my BMW 650i Gran Coupe, at more than 2x the value.

I believe claims for 911's must be relatively low compared to other, less expensive sports cars. I expect the typical driver is more mature and also not as likely to file a claim.

Agree Stingers jammers need some improvement but their radar is very good. There is a chap called shifter on this board who swears by them.

The reason I didn't get the STIR+ Is the BSM filtering is limited.

This is so true. My 911 Turbo S with tons of performance mods that the insurer knows about that is insured at an agreed value of almost $200,000 is much cheaper than my E 63S.

Do you guys have any recommendations in the NY/NJ/CT area for aftermarket spring installers and alignment shops?

Thank you,

John

I just spoke to my insurance broker and was told that Hagerty needed me to show them that I have experience driving a vehicle that has more than 580hp for them to be willing to issue me an agreed value policy on a new 2018 991.2 TTS. Is that pretty common for those of you who have insurance through Hagerty? I have never driven a car with more HP so I guess I will have to first go with a normal policy through another carrier until I can amass enough experience to go with Hagerty. The policy that I had them quote is for $280K agreed value with $2500 deductible. Price was $4760 per year.

Thanks,

John

why would you have an agreed value $50k more than msrp? I understand you may want to protect against future price increases if needed to replace but that’s quite a bit. My opinion

Hi Wassy,

I was covering the tax, stage 3 mods, HRE rims, radar/laser system, and full body wrap. All comes out to around $280K.

fully justified. Smart. Although I could be wrong, again, From experience (at least in Florida) sales tax is added to the “value” automatically. I would check with Haggerty if you need to calculate your total with sales tax or pre sales tax. May not make that much of a difference in premium but never know and my policies are traditional not agreed value (maybe I should switch?)

I may have to do the traditional coverage myself at first until I am able to get an agreed upon value coverage. The difference in price between a traditional coverage and agreed value coverage for me is about $1K per year but it is worth it for me for peace of mind. Hagerty is good since they don't have limits on mileage that you could put on the car. I will try Geico next to see if their requirements are less stringent.
