Default Newby introduction and Insurance question

Sorry, new to the forum. Posted this to the wrong section.

====================================

Hello Folks,

I have always admired the 911 turbo S ever since I was little. With advice and feedback from Wassy on this board, now I will finally be fortunate enough to get one in my garage. I have just placed an order for one that will be built in July. Was able to get a 5% discount and my first 2 oil change service included. My build code is below.

http://www.porsche-code.com/PJW71U77

So I contacted my Allstate agent to see about coverage and was told that Allstate will not cover a high performance car with a turbo. I also have a modified 2016 WRX STI currently on the policy but I guess they don't consider it a high performance car. My question to you guys is, what national brand insurance company do you guys use? I will try Geico but I just want to have a few backup options. My Allstate agent had suggested Hagerty but that would most likely be a very restrictive policy according to her.

Thank you,

John

Use Chubb or AIG private client. Or Geico -- they cover the car

My car due to its mods is covered by an agreed value policy issued by Chubb. Nice broad coverage terms

Thanks for the tip SDG. I see that you are in NYC. Do you by any chance know a good installer for remote radar/laser detectors in the area? I also plan on PPF'ing the entire car and read that Signature Detailing in NJ do great jobs. Any advice?

Thank you,

John

Surprising. I use GEICO and have covered several high performance cars with them over the years.

Hi Stealth,

I will try GEICO when the time comes. My current insurance is Allstate and their underwriters told my agent that they will not cover this car. Seems Allstate is pretty conservative. They also refused to cover a german shepherd dog on the home owner's policy.

What laser jammer and remote radars are you using?

Thanks,

John

My '94 3.6 Turbo is with Condon Skelly...agreed value and my '15 Turbo S is with State Farm.

'15 is about 1,800.00 per yr.

These are both out of Florida.

Hi Bad,

That's a pretty decent price. I am expecting to pay about that but for 6 months coverage. 42 yo male no tickets or accidents (knock on wood )

I have Allstate on my '15 Turbo S Cab and its around $600 every 6 months. I'd suggest finding another agent!

Detailing Dynamics in Mineola. They are expensive but excellent. Their XPel work is flawless. They did a full XPel wrap of 3 of
My cars S well As laser hammers/integrated radar detector in my 991 TTS.

Thanks sdg1871. How long did you have to leave your car at DD for them to complete the full wrap? May I ask how much they charged you?

It needs to be there about a week. I don't remember the exact price. It was part of a package of months. But in general to do a full XPel wrap of an entire car is probably in the $5000 to $6000 range! From the top to your installer. You can find cheaper. But in the world of Xpel as my friend who has protective film solutions in California says it's either cheap or good but not both.

Also member GSC just had major work done to his car at Detailing Dynamics including the entire stereo system and lots of additional other mods. He call ask for Eddie. They have quite a long waiting list for an XPel wrap for new customers. Probably a month or two.

I'm using ALP jammers and the Net Radar. The Net Radar is okay, but it doesn't have auto lockout. It also requires you to use a cellphone if you want a display or to be able to manually lockout false alerts. To me this makes Net Radar a bit annoying.

If I was doing it again I would get ALP jammers, and for the radar I would do either Escort Max 360CI or the Stinger VIP Radar.

There are a lot of factors. If we set aside the fact that not everyone on this board has a clean license, geography also makes a huge difference. When I moved from Miami to Atlanta my insurance price halved.

South Florida has higher insurance costs because:
1) More uninsured drivers
2) Thieves steal cars and have them out of the country within a couple of hours thanks to close proximity to a port that is shipping to LATAM
3) Higher risk of accident with a high percentage of drivers who got their driving licenses and habits from other countries.

Also while my insurance is half the price of what it was in Miami, I know if I lived in the suburbs it would be another 15% lower.

I'm sure your Oklahoma insurance is even lower than mine. I pay $814 per 6 months for both a 991 Turbo S and a Mercedes C300 4MATIC with 2 named drivers on policy.
