No clue about the GPS antenna. It works fine. He put the display just over the rear view mirror. You can see it easily, but it can't be seen from behind the car (reason I didn't go for the integrated rear view mirror display). Control unit is to the right of the steering wheel against the dash where the upper and lower dash meet. Beneath the right most pod on the instrument cluster. Easy to turn off when needed. Trick installs involving the ashtray don't seem worth the cost to me, especially when I use the ashtray to hold change for meters.
