Stopping is impressive on hard-packed snow/ice and turning 8's in a big lot nearby in 4-6 inches of snow was no problem. Also have Pirelli SZ's on the TTS wheels mounted at the factory on TTS wheels and have not tested them on snow or ice yet. SZ's in the dry/cold weather definitely do not have the cornering stability of summer tires in warm weather and I would not use them in warm weather. I would be surprised if Porsche would mount under-performing tires, but that is only my opinion.
Usually when it comes to OEM tires, they mount what with what company they currently have a deal with it. Otherwise everyone should use MPSS for their summer tires. Nothing is better (not counting the R-compound cup tires).

Phew...! I have them coming on my GTS and was wondering why there was so much negativity regards them...?

The PCCB were standard on my TTS. They have tremendous bite -- grabbing much stronger and quicker than steel brakes. They do not produce dust. I have not experienced mich squealing despite our cold NYC winter. They are resistant to fade. They are lighter than the steel brakes and therefore cut unsprung weight.

The only real downside is replacement cost. While they will last 100k miles if you drive your car normally, everyone In the service part of Porsche has warned me that tracking them will cut their life considerably. And if you need a complete brake job including rotors the cost is more than $20k! If just the pads go, replacing those are not expensive. But the cost of new rotors is staggering. Means I don't intend to be doing much tracking with my TTS.

For people who want to track just switch them to steel rotors, then switch back. TPC has a good kit for this.

I live in Las Vegas. I purchased a new 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo. To date the car has over 70K miles on it. The car is bulletproof and never gets hot. No issue.

Has anyone here owned both the 991.1 TTS and then upgraded to the 991.2 TTS???

If so, How's the comparison? If someone was going to purchase, is the .2 worth the extra coin??

This is a great question and I’m looking forward to reading the responses - might be worthy of its own thread?

What seats to you have ? I have the 18 way ventilated seats and I think they are stiffer/less padding than standard seats. I can never seem to find the right seat position and i have not been brave enough to attempt trips over 2-3 hrs. No way I will have ventilated 18 way seats in my next car.

I have never driven a 991.1 TTS. Only a 991.2 TT and TTS. The TTS sounds a little different to me. Not sure if it's the different turbos or what...

I love the 18-ways in my TTS, I've had them in every Porsche I've owned since 2012.

I haven't *owned* both, but have a couple of friends with 991.2 TTS and have enough seat time swapping cars back and forth as well as 'bench racing' with other owners to compare the .1 and .2...

Is it worth the extra coin?

IMHO that depends on how much extra coin, and I will say in general, it is too much extra coin and therefore no. The price point we are starting to see on 991.1 Turbos and Turbo Ss are fantastic with so much depreciation already squeezed out of them, where as the .2 TT and particularly TTS still have a fairly long way to go on depreciation curve.

And the differences are comparatively small compared to say 997.1 Turbo vs. 997.2 Turbo, or 997.2 TTS vs 991.1 TTS...

991.1 TTS vs. 991.2 TTS: Different turbos with more power, carplay integration, nicer steering wheel. All nice (but definitely not essential) upgrades, Is that worth $30K-50K extra to you?

@Big Swole , I know you like to tinker, and IMHO a 991.1 Turbo S (or even a non S) for $85-95K with $5-7K of mods is going to light up your world as much or more than a $130-150K 991.2 Turbo S and the $30-50K savings can IMHO be put to far better uses...

For me, it was really simple calculus. The price difference between the .1 and .2 TTS is about the same value as my ridiculously sorted 996 Turbo. Would I trade my 996 turbo for a nicer stereo and steering wheel? lol. I'm keeping my twin twin turbos...

991.1 Turbo or Turbo S with some miles on it, plus a DSC+ controller, plus some sticky Cup 2's, plus an aggressive alignment, plus a cat bypass, (plus a cobb custom tune) = rock your world for not much more $ than you could get for your 997.2 Turbo S,.

The billet compressor wheels on the 991.2 TTS AND the fuel system upgrades were nice improvements to the stock platform and make for a great power gains with a tune alone - that made the $30K-50K worth it to me as a new buyer, combined with the other changes - I really wanted the LCA for example. But, that’s not BigSwole’s question which is more interesting and is directed at previous owners of a 991.1 TTS.

Do you also have ventilated seats? I think the ventilation option removes some of the padding in 18 way seats. Either that or i'm getting old and need my back adjusted.
