Porsche 911 turbo s ( Daily driver )
#31
[QUOTE=Thomas tad;11531584]Well, recently i have visited the car dealer and was about to order the 2015 turbo s version, however i asked if there was going to be any face lift added to the car, in which he replied that their is a might be a minor change to the 2016 version ( The two bumpers and the tail light). He also told me that if it was possible, i could upgrade the 2015 version to the 2016 and that if it was compatible based on the vehicle body, which yet to be released completely. + There are some leaked pictures of the 2016 version.
So i thought of just waiting additional year, or any thought on it?[/QUOTE
It is unlikely that mechanical or electronic changes will be made for the 2016 991 Turbo or Turbo S, although certainly possible, but to wait another year for the 2016 minor cosmetic changes to the tail lights and lower rear fascia seems a bit much. Of course buying either of these models, whether in-inventory 2014's , or 2015 or 2016 is about as subjective/personal choice we can make. Not sure that anyone but a Porsche fanatic would notice the minor changes to the rear lights or fascia anyway. Probably, most people think that our 991's are no different than 996's or 997's.

I could possibly see waiting a year for a successor to the 991 with KERS and 700+ hp but changes to the rear lights and bumpers is not sufficient. So you wait, pay a price increase, and another year of your life has gone by just for different looking rear lights and bumpers. So little time, so many cars.

Wait for the 2016. When the time arrives and as you are configuring your car, the dealer will tell you how the next generation is just around the corner. Then you get to thinking, how about I just wait for that next model. So the wait continues and and then the generation finally is announced! You get so excited and run out to your dealer and find out that in a year or two, there will be a tweak on the headlights. Then you get to thinking about that next upgrade. While you are dreaming of the next greatest thing...I am currently driving mine!!!!
I think this thread is cooked.

My Turbo S is a toy and I do not use it everyday because while it is ok to drive and leave in my gated community, their are to many axxholes here in Palm Beach to be driving and leaving a 200K car everyday. So,I drive a nice 4x4 as a DD and the TS as the toy.As for the car,it is outstanding in everyway and can be used as a Daily Driver if you wish...

Track Day
I had 2001 996 Turbo ( manual) as my daily driver until I took delivery new 991 Turbo in February. The new car is also me daily driver. I was hesitant about ordering a car with the PDK transmission. I have driven the 991 Turbo over 8,000 miles and I must tell you is it the greatest and most fun car I have ever owned including the new PDK transmission. Buy want you want both the TT an TTS are great cars. You will not be disappointed in either car. My final coming is life is short. If you love driving cars and have the money purchase a new now. The enjoyment you have every day driving the car will far outweighs
any thought about depreciation, model changes etc. Have fun while you are young. If you are older like me (68) get the car now. It is best to have fun while you have your heath. I also believe the only people on this web site that do not like the 991 Turbo are people that have never owned one. Both cost lots of money but your enjoyment driving the car far outweighs the price. Have fun you only life once.

Yes,again go get your 991 Turbo.I do not daily drive my TS,but this is my choice, not the cars.I have had about every kind of HP/Exotic cars their are,but I also agree the Porsche 911 Turbos are outstanding in everyway. I am on my second TS and will buy the new series as Porsche updates them(not just minor changes)..
Life is very short, enjoy it now.......

Burning Brakes
I live in N. Palm beach County, I daily Dr my 991 TS, took Euro delivery 6/5/14, have now 8500 miles on it. Already replace tires with Sport Cup 2, which I highly recommend, Been to Road America, PBIR, Homestead, Sebring. Amazing car, drive to fancy dinner, then onto a road course. All I need is a helmet!
BTW I live in a gated community 💥
Having a fast car and driving it slow, is like having a beautiful wife and not making love to her 😜

I have a 997 Turbo S as my daily. Picked it up barely used at a great discount. It's an awesome car for daily, weekend, or track use. I only have one issue with it: keeping it under 100 mph.

Racer
When my wife drives the Turbo S she drives it like her Camry and it is very docile. She once asked if this car was really powerful and I said HIT the gas and see but she won't. it feels like a normal car when driven lightly so it is a perfect DD. She places the stick in D and thats it. I drive it much differently.

DD - 200 miles per day?
I am looking to pickup a 991 TTS as a daily driver from Central NJ to NYC and sometimes to Long Island. What is the general consensus on this car being a daily driver with doing 400-600 miles per week?
