Bored on a Saturday, ceating a new discussion; K40

9500 hands down. The GPS auto learn function makes a huge difference. It means my commute is quiet. When the detector goes off, I know something is up. The K40 beeps and chirps past every strip mall. Every time. Also, ka band is the primary police radar band by me. The escort gives me a much longer warning. I'm very pleased with it.

I went with the K40 in an early Cab as it was a cleaner install in the 991 than the 9500ci; had the 9500ci in a 997.2 GT3 which worked well in my opinion but could figure out how to do a clean install - dealer even suggested the K40 (probably made more on it).
I was never happy with the K40 and started using the Escort MAX on the windshield - it was better by a second or two on every band. Just bought a new Porsche and I am sticking with the windshield MAX - the built-ins are not worth the money of my opinion.

Update on this thread - finally had my Escort 9500ci installed in my 991 TT and had the shifters updated on the 9500ci that is already installed in my Range Rover Sport.
I chose to go with the rear shifters as well (now an additional cost option) because if I am spending money, I may as well do it and be as confident as I can be that I am covered from behind.
For a clean install, I ordered rear plate mounts from Justin Kairis of Benchmark Motoring in Washington State. Different mounts for each car, but each plate fit perfectly around the rear view camera and holds the rear diffusers in place without blocking the plate lights at all. Looks super neat. Would encourage anyone interested in a 9500ci system with rear diffuser to look him up and order the plate mounts.

Hi Enzom, can you give me some idea how much it cost you to buy the rear plate holder from benchmark and how much was your installation cost. I bought 9500ci and planning to install in my upcoming TT. Did you buy the brackets also from them? You can PM me.Thanks in advance.

Driving home from Atco last week, got nailed by laser on the NJ Turnpike doing 95 or so. Would have been an expensive ticket. If I didn't have laser shifters, I would have been toast. I know there are tests out there showing that the escort shifter pros are not as effective as other brands with respect to certain guns, but I am guessing that the NJ state troopers are not using those brands. I was saved.

I had the 9500 ci on my 991 and plan to get another on my turbo. I'll order the plate and mounting brackets.
I didn't know about the mute double tap though. Can you explain that please?
My favorite feature beside stealth was the gps memory- learning the fixed radar spots so it was quiet unless the threat was real.
Thanks. Good post!

The newer style custom plates are cool - the 997.2 I'm installing in has the older/smaller ashtray, so no PORSCHE text room. I'll be upgrading the kit from the SR4's it has to the ShifterPro heads.
The only issue I have is what the rear plate design will look like, as its not the same bumper cover as on the 991. If the plate shift looks janky or the heads block the plate lights I may have to rethink the rear coverage.
So in the year and some of using the ShifterPro's, any issues?
I'm using the laser systems as detectors to confirm my suspicion rather than relying on the protection from them.

I've been very happy with the system so far and I think it's - ahem - paid for itself quite nicely by now. I-5 in the south end seems to have more than our fair share of WSP looking for speeders (I've heard it said that proximity to the academy where they mint new troopers accounts for that). Add to that some of the towns here now seem to have police departments equipped with laser for speed measurement.
The only issue, and it's less than a handful of times so not much of an issue, is that I've gotten what I believe are false positives, most often when it's raining, that appear to come from LED lamp equipped vehicles -- pulling up behind someone at a traffic light for example...a couple of times in that situation I've had it go off.
