Congratulations!
I did a Stuttgart pick up when I picked up my '01TT...man, that was a long time ago! I was able run my car WOT for extended periods and I sure miss that!
Idea: Try and coordinate the pick up with the Essen Motor Show. IMHO, that is the best "Tuner" car show in the world (11/30 - 12/8/2013). It will be nice to go to the show with a new TT. http://www.essen-motorshow.de/

10-4. The weather will be the big variable here and the factory will not like to cut you loose on summer tires in winter, and may program your speed limiter to 210kmh. The factory can give you the facts.

Congratulations on the new Turbo - Enjoy it in good health.
At $170,195 you are very close to the price of a Turbo S, which would include many of the options you selected. You may want to evaluate if the additional resale value of the Turbo S would be worth the
(relatively) small extra cost to you. Either way, it is a gorgeous Automobile and I'm certain will give you many years of highly enjoyable driving. We are all fortunate and blessed to be able to take advantage of the incredible toys available to us at this point of our lives.

I ordered one too. It's a little over 20k extra for an equal turbo S. Half of which is ceramic brakes that I don't want. A lot of extra for 40hp, .1 second zero to 60 and bragging rights.

ratings of 516 Ft. Lbs over a 2100 - 4250 RPM Range indicating the additional
30 HP of the Turbo S (520 HP vs 550 HP) comes only at the higher RPM range
and the additional Torque comes only in the Overboost range (524 - 553 Ft. Lbs)
Additionally the 3 second difference in Nordschleifer times of the Turbo S (7:26) vs the Turbo (7:29) would be reduced to under 1 second on the average shorter tracks in the U.S. I also do not want ceramic brakes nor CL wheels. Configuring both cars for maximum performance, the Turbo comes in at $158,265 vs $182,800. Which leaves only the resale value difference for the choice.
ie: Will the Turbo S bring more in resale value than the $24,535 additional cost?

Mine is 165 but I got the glass sunroof and I do like the centerlock wheels. I think you need the sunroof for resale. The Turbo has overboost as well if you get the Sport Crono. Mine will never be tracked it will be a DD. Will the Turbo S be worth more at resale? Probably. The 25K is not a big deal to me, but for me there is no additional value in having an S (or ceramic brakes) so why pay the 25K. That's a nice motorcycle, watch, painting or vacation.

Thanks Igooz for the tip on the weather. I expect the snow and the dealer has told me that they will not let me leave without a set of snow tires on loaner wheels, to be replaced before shipping stateside. The other downside is the car comes in via New Jersey for a more thorough customs inspection, vs. the port of Houston. So it takes another 3 weeks to get here. I plan to travel to the mediteranean coast after pickup, i hope for better weather.
FastLaneTurbo and CarCommander - thanks for your comments and congratulations on your orders. I didn't want PCCB, which is why I took a Turbo v. Turbo S allocation. I do think the Turbo S will have more appeal in resale but there is so much profit in these cars that if you trade in vs. sell outright, the depreciation is still going to be severe. What are your build dates?

My build date is Nov 3. Red Route I assume you have been in Europe before and know about the terrible roads (except in Germany), very aggresive traffic and poor parking and security almost everywhere. You don't see many high end cars except in the large citys and maybe Monte Carlo. I would not want to stick out there right now. I just finished a two week motorcycle trip in Spain and Portugal and travel to the Med often.

Still try and go to the Essen car show if you can. And take your checkbook!

Unlike the 993, 996 and 997 Turbo S models, I don't think the 991 Turbo S will bring that much of a premium over a 991 Turbo. Reason is that Porsche's strategy of releasing the Turbo S alongside the Turbo will flood the market with 'S' versions. Also, you can count on Porsche to create a Gen.2 Turbo 'S', maybe a Gen. 3 Turbo 'S', again diluting exclusivity that prior 993/996/997 Turbo 'S' versions enjoyed. If anything, I'd expect prices on the 991 Turbo S to plummet even faster than they did on 997 Turbo S models. A good strategy might be to wait a bit and pick up a ($182K + 20K optioned = $200K)991 Turbo S for $150K a year down the road.

Carcommander, yes that is my concern, especially Spain with the economic situataion. I'll reconsider factory delivery this time.
AAHTT, I have been buying for years and still don't understand the allocation strategy. I suppose the more productive dealers get the earliest cars, but not sure about that. Anyway, i'm holding a firm build and delivery date in the Porsche manufacturing system, not just a promise from the dealer.
