Question Removing the rear horizontal and vertical fins from the decklid

2019 991.2 Turbo S: Does anyone know how to remove the fins from the deck? Hopefully with pictures?

I can remove the whole deck, but I can't figure out how to remove the fins without breaking something. I'm replacing the fins with carbon bits, and I'll pay someone if I HAVE TO...but it seems like I'm already halfway there.

Thanks

I did it on mine. Broke every one of the stock ones that came out. So, essentially I’m no help lol

I'm curious as well. I want to detail around the fin/decklid interface, and I'll have the best results if I can remove the vertical slats.

So from what I know having done mine on a 991.1 Turbo S, it should be similar to the .2. That inner panel that has the vents and fins on it is removable via 4 (or 6) Torx screws hidden in the decklid cavity. You'll have to look inside the openings of the underside of the decklid and find them. Once you remove those, the panel also probably some tabs that snap into place. You can find those as well underneath and gently pry them out. Once that whole panel comes out, you'll see the clips that hold the slats and fins on the underside. Removing those without damaging them is tedious but if you take your time, you'll be fine.

I might just tap out and pay someone to do it. I didn't see a second set of torx screws, but knowing that they're hidden would explain it.

I’ll check the parts diagram when I get home and see if what I have includes the .2 models. Might also be able to search online for the exploded view parts diagram, which should show the screw locations.

Maybe I'll give it a shot tomorrow and take the lid out into the sun and study it.

Yeah I noticed that too. The louvers on the .1's are just snapped into place with plastic clips. I have to imagine the .2's are the same way. You should be able to see those once you get that insert panel off.

I just pulled the lid off. I don't see any hidden screws.

I think I might have figured it out. No screws..it might be clips that you have to squeeze and push.

I'll report back after I've broken all the plastic.
