Transformed the car into a real beast and fun daily driver. However, as time passed and newer more capable cars and features came out it was no longer that special. I still own that M3 and drive it a bit but my main focus today is Porsche not BMW. If I could go back in time and talk to my younger self I'd say to skip the Dinan upgrade and go buy a used 993 Turbo or a 2007 Turbo S.

That said, every time I drive the M3 it still puts a smile on my face.
Interesting - I had an e46 M3 and it was stock - I got the 2nd one from my dealer when they were announced (all the first ones were red - right?). I think in 2001. It was manual. I never really loved the car. I liked it but after 911's it felt that BMW was missing something. It was very good but not great. I sold it and bought my 2004 40th anniversary manual - GT silver. And was happier.

I would agree with the 993 Turbo recommendation - those are getting pricey. There is no 2007 Turbo S - I believe the S only came later.
