Even if you don’t know exactly what you are looking at when you do “an inspection” you sure ought to be able to see leaks or evidence of leaks. As in many things, early detection is paramount.
leaks would show up on the ground.

Your clogged drains wouldn't. Oil leaks are only one of many things that Porsche wants to be inspected on an annual basis.

See post above yours.

Inspection and ease of doing an oil change are two different things. My car sits 6 feet in the air on a garage lift so I can always tell what is going on underneath. I mearly stated that on occassion at an event I have done an oilil change without a jack or lift.

By the time it shows up on the ground you’ll have a serious oil mess. This, much more with front- and mid-engined since they have belly pans that will allow oil to pool.

But, even on the 991, oil on the ground is way too late in some cases.

For example: On the 991s if the oil pressure sender develops a leak, it may never show up on the ground. However, the weeping oil will get wicked up the engine harness and actually introduce oil into the interior of the ECU.

No. I am not kidding. I have pictures.
