Love my x-pipe. Really transforms the driving experience and opens up the engine note. In sport its subtle and throaty, in sport + its a high pitch scream with some fantastic gurgling. Cant say enough.

I have a Soul x Pipe. I'm looking for more sound. Would sport cats help? Just need a bit more volume. With the windows down you can barely hear the exhaust over the wind noise at speed.

Does this system affect CA emissions? Does it void warranty?

Changing to more aggressive cats than OEM or deleting them altogether could cause you a problem depending upon what state you live in and what types of inspection requirements are involved. Even with no CEL, it could cause a fail in some places because anything other than OEM cats are not approved.

In addition, I wanted to keep my Porsche CPO warranty intact, so I went with a SpeedTech X-Pipe w/ OEM cats and no mufflers. That produced the perfect extra sound, deeper, better tone, and deceleration gurgles that were perfect for me.

There aren't many aftermarket exhausts that work with the OEM cats.

That is something that I felt strongly about when designing our SpeedTech system and CodyzWorld is a perfect example of why. We have had many start out with just the X-Pipe, then add our 100 cell high flow cats down the road, when the warranty expires or they just want more out of the system.

I don't want to mess around with my cats but I need more sound. This is why people go in and out of Turbo S's.

Turbo S's are fast not much sound. GT3's are slow with more sound. What to do? Aahhh

@EmMHoLLa

The answer is in the post just above yours. I have the SpeedTech X-Pipe without mufflers that is compatible with the OEM cats. The OEM cats are your mufflers with this system.

There are two versions (2.5" and 3"). The smaller diameter is for those who want more than OEM, a deeper tone, and some gurgle and pop in Sport modes, but civilized for long-distance low rpm cruising. The larger gives you bit more.

I've put quite a few miles on my 2.5" system, and I am completely happy with it. Like you, I was very dissatisfied with the OEM exhaust sound on my Turbo S. Now, it's perfect for me.

Don't know about the warranty, but, technically, will not pass CA smog. I say "technically" because it will fail visual inspection, but many techs will not recognize the change. I passed with the SOUL unit on my car right after I bought it last year.

Had the Soul CB and Cats on my 991 TTS and NEVER got a cell. The exhaust was incredible in every way! Sold car and sold exhaust to an associate who said this system totally transformed his car. You won't get a cell from this exhaust unless the installation was not done correctly. I installed myself on jack stands.

With the highly-regarded exhaust systems like your Soul, which include non-OEM, sport cats, the issue is not a CEL. It's legitimate concerns about warranty and passing state emissions inspection requirements.

In many states, the emissions inspection requirements won't be a problem, but in some of the stricter states, it may be, because the inspection involves more than just the absence of a CEL.

There are few options that are cat-back only, and SpeedTech is the one I chose for that reason. I got exactly the results I was looking for in terms of better sound, retention of the OEM cats, and no warranty or emissions inspection concerns.

I think I figured it out. You have to drive in manual mode. In manual mode you can run at higher rpm and in turn get more sound. Running at higher rpm has awakened my soul x pipe. I think I'm good now no need for sport cats.
