Wow. You are in a different power world now vs a Stage 3 tune in Race.

Well done.

Seeing that on paper is awesome. That’s huge! I’m having a lot of fun buddy. I hope you are too. This is just the beginning. I think Kim is going to go out and play around with his first methanol tune.

@V12TT - great job and thanks for sharing all this data! It's much appreciated and those are some fantastic numbers! With the right tires and launch you should be able to get in the 9.6s in the 1/4 even at that altitude. Congrats and how exciting for you!

I do have some updates! I got my car back a couple of months ago with the bottom end having been reinforced by @SamboTT@ByDesign and his crew in AZ and then at World Racing in Torrance. I also went with the Dodson clutch upgrade so my weakest link is now probably the rear axles which are factory stock.

@CodyzWorld and @BMS Payam have both driven my car and could probably share their impressions.

Sam set me up with a very basic tune for the Stage 5 package since I'm not trying to break any records and am more going for consistency for the type of drag racing I'm doing. I also have a stronger file that Sam gave me but conditions here with high heat and bad traction as well as the points rules for RedList haven't been amenable to even trying that stronger file yet. Hopefully things cool down and we get an event that allows me to try the stronger file.

My goal has always been to keep the car very steerable as a I drive it to the tracks and back and Famoso is a 135 mile drive each way and also use the car several times a week for various utilitarian needs.

At the Redlist event in August I got 1st place again with 131 points. In 2nd was a Tesla Plaid with 124 points and in 3rd was a Dodge Demon with 123 points.

For that event the maximum points for each of 12 runs could be attained by running an ET of between 9.5 secs and 9,9 secs with less than a 0.1 reaction time and getting a 60 foot quicker than 1.7 secs while also beating your opponent to the finish line (as long as your opponent didn't run quicker than 9.50 secs. So Sam gave me file that would not break 9.5 secs in the 1/4 (soft launch and toned down boost) and I was able to get ten lower than 0.1 lights on the 12 passes I made so was able to get first place

While there were quicker cars out there they didn't maximize points and often could not complete the 12 runs in a short amount of time due to their cars needing too much prep and cooldown time in between runs.

So I was able to win the 1st place $1000 cash prize and trophy And it should be noted that my car and the Tesla Plaid were the only ones that actually drove to the track. Everyone else trailered their cars. I had a 50/50 mix of 101 VP pump racing fuel and MS 109 (which is overkill but insurance) and left home with 3/4 of a tank of gas and was able to drive to the track and race and drive home on that amount of gas.

I also had to stay within NHRA rules and not go under 9.0 secs or over 150 mph so ran with street tires and no cage. So this was a special tune that is actually below the "case:" tune that Sam returned my car with.

I feel the car is capable of a 9.1.9.2 sec 1/4 mile with the stronger tune and a solid 9.3 with the base tune.

I did run the car at Irwindale in the 1/8 mile with the base tune and it ran a 6.13 at over 118 mph and traction wasn't ideal. I'll try to dig up that time slip.

All these runs were in over 100 degree tips with horrible DA.

Here's my time slip from Irwindale - about 104 degrees and lousy DA. Sorry I've not been posting as much but with my GF at the California Institute of Technology doing LIGO research in Physics (that school is notorious for how much work they have you do) and my own work schedule and trying to look after our 4 dogs and 5 cats it has been a pretty intense past couple of months.

My take on @SamboTT@ByDesign Stage 5 is that it is the ultimate street package. You could run 9.3a and 9.2s and likely go over 150 mph with good conditions. That's pretty impressive! Actually it's amazing for how streetable the car is.

My main man Kim ! If I were 20 years younger and lived in LA, we would be brothers at the track. WELL DONE on building an incredible Street Ride !

Car is running strong here for elevation. Not near the results Kim has but I’m glad to be the Guinea pig for the rest of my high elevation guys and gals out there. If there any specific questions I am happy to answer and share my experience with this kit reality vs expectations etc

Cheers Jude. I’m really happy with your before/after numbers at altitude but I know you’re looking for more. I’ll definitely take care of you to get some larger snails on there if you want. Compared to Kim’s car, for example it really shows how much altitude and DA can affect performance. You should post some of those races though. You had some good ones! Cars with even more power that you smoked!

Thanks you @onfireTTS ! That's for sure! And if you ever visit SoCal you would be a welcome guest in my home and we would find you a car to run at the track if there was an appropriate event on the calendar And you would be welcome to try out any of my cars on the street of course!

Thank you @PbPedis. I'm very happy with the combination of power and street ability that @SamboTT@ByDesign Stage 5 offers. If you want to get into the 8's then of course his XR package is the way to go. For me consistency, streetability and staying within the NHRA rules on non caged cars was the priority. If NHRA ever bends the rules more and allows 8 second rides then my car is basically set up to make that jump. But for now this is all I need.

One thing to bear in mind is that when you get to the low 9's you risk bending rods and lifting your intake etc so one thing to consider is beefing things up which is costly but @SamboTT@ByDesign offers some great pricing if you decide to get the extra insurance. For people who mostly run on the street it's a lower risk. For someone like me who goes to a lot of events and who runs the grueling 12 back to back runs required to win Redlist events then the investment in strengthening things is well advised.

Thx Sam. The car is good and think I’m done with it. It spools good and runs strong so don’t want to mess with that chasing another 4-5mph as that puts us close to limits of clutch and motor and don’t want lag. If I go full Kim and build motor and clutches it makes sense but for now it’s fine. I just need to decide if I want to sell it and try a new platform or just enjoy the car and accept it’s just a tad slower than a damn Tesla plaid. Elevation is hard to deal with and really shows how fast something is. Running 145mph at 6600-6800 DA says a lot.
