Yep, I'm here as a spectator lol. My TCU isn't cooperating at the moment so I couldn't race my car. Finally met some of the AIM guys, really cool people and badass cars!!

Yep, they're good people and are making things happen.
Wish I could be there.
Not bad for a 991 that's been racing and daily driving for years. AIM and ES know how to build them.
That's not Daves car, that's Ryans 991.1 TTS that just got an ES1400 build and made its first pass. Dave had some more power which resulted in a trans issue. He can release more info if he wants, I'm sure they'll post a Tx2k summary thread.

I saw a pic of a black 991 on HRE101 from AIM/ES with the slip. Had no idea they had clones. Now that Dave has competition maybe he was pushing it haha. Either way great job from team AIM/ES.
We finally have a Porsche (ES997) in the mix with the baddest GTRs and Lambos.

Hi All,
Just flew back from TX2K very early this morning and worked a full day. Seeing this for the first time as it's been a busy week!
Well...this was not a good event for me. LOL. Keeps me humble and hungry.
First, roll race qualifying was cut in half. We were supposed to have four qualifying rounds but only got two, and we only got to see round one speeds before it was cut short. I made only one valid pass at low boost (map 3 of 8) for 182mph (my car does 195 in 1/3 mile roll) before it was shut down. My mistake was not running a higher boost map to ensure easily qualifying. I figured, incorrectly, that 182mph would be enough given that 174mph was enough last year. WRONG. This year the bump was 184mph, so 3 out of four fast AIM cars and other good buddies with fast cars failed to qualify for the eliminations. Had it gone four rounds and we had the data on where we stood, we obviously would have turned it up to where we needed to be. Nevertheless, it was my choice and it was my mistake.
My next mistake was entering the drag racing event in DCT class where the rules prevented me from running my bias ply slicks that I've been running for the last 2 years without a single break and tons of 8.5 and one 8.2 passes. . Even though other cars (several R8s) broke the rules and ran them anyway, we followed them and ran drag radials which break transmissions at my power level, especially on SICK Jason Miller prep. So no surprise, I broke my PDK trans. Here is my instagram post after:
But then, the AIM Performance Boyz went above and beyond and swapped my trans overnight and we were running back-to-back 3.2 60-130s on the street:
BUT...the built diff with the Wavtrac in my trans was also broken, so only had stock PDK with stock diff and no Wavtrac. My car has way too much power for that. So even though I tree'd my opponent and cut a .10 light vs. a .3X, my clutch couldn't handle one wheel spinning and refused to shift, blowing my otherwise easy victory over an 8.80 720S.
All that said, the best part was hanging out with the AIM family and also meeting and hanging with so many quality friends from other shops. Great to finally meet you all!
So easy to happen when you are hunting for that extra tenth or mph. People think HP and Torque are the only factors when in reality traction and track prep are just as important for consistency and longevity of the car. Drivetrains and Diffs can only take so much instantaneous torque. Tire spin is the relief valve for parts breakage. Every race is a learning exercise for the next…you’ll have it figured out then!
Really hate that you had the breakage. Hopefully, you can build the trans back even stronger than before.
No doubt it will be back shortly as strong as ever. AIM has the built diff with Wavtrac in stock and they and Emre will have it all done and dialed in for daily drivability and performance in a week or two max. They are the best Porsche shop in the World.

Yes, indeed. Thanks.

Very true. The Jason Miller prep was so sick, I broke before moving an inch. What I learned is to never launch from a dig without my slicks on a well-prepped surface again.

Can you please elaborate on the last point? Wouldn't slicks grip harder and stronger than a traditional tire or drag radial or is there some sort of flex/twist that the slicks offer?
