A little trick I learned with centerlocks...
So last weekend I swapped my summer wheels with my winter wheels....man I hate center locks....but I digress....
Well when I was finished the spline spring just did not pop out all the way on the right side of the car like it did on the left side....the right side only came out half the way no matter how many times I jiggled it with my finger...
Left side - spline fully engaged
Right side - spline partially engaged
...so I called my mechanic and he told me to just use the back end of the cap removal tool that has the semi hey shape and stick in the center of the spline and rotate it back and forth...popped right out and fully engaged. So that damn cap removal tool is also a spline engagement tool....just wanted to share since it was not obvious to me.

I'm never getting centerlock wheels again if I can help it. I bought my 991 turbo without realizing the added cost and difficulty in changing the wheels out on my own. So now I pay the dealership $150 every fall and again every spring to swap out my summer/winter tires.

Totally agree with you...I really don't know why this was consider a good thing other than you can design some really cool wheels. I can swap 5 lug wheels in like 1/5 the time....There is no grease to screw with and I can do by myself. Dred it every season change.

I think I've just gotten used to them. I'd get them again, or 5-lug would be fine too. Once you get about $350 worth of tools and get some good jack skills, it's not that big an ordeal.

I know that center locks get a bad rap sometimes, but I love them. I find them easier to change than my old 5-lug wheels. Once you have the right tools, it’s not difficult. They look awesome too.

Precision makes one that fits in the trunk and so does Hassett
You have to have these tools in the car

I think this was why someone was suggesting getting a breaker bar with it - my TW is about 4' long and I have to have someone holding the wheel and brakes in order to crack the nut; and even them, I am applying quite a bit of force.
Use anti seize as well - your arms will thanks you.

Love my center lock wheels, have them on several of my cars, BUT there is a learning process, and having a lift and the right tools is the key, and having a second person makes it a breeze, doing it myself it take me about he same time as my 5 lug cars, but with a second person it was a 6 minute job yesterday.
