Default Typical short-comings/failures during track use?

Considering a 991.1 or .2 turbo (probably not an S) and wanted to know what items typically need to be addressed for track use?
I'm used to doing tires, brake pads, and fluid on cars I plan to track - so none of that is really what I'm looking for. More interested in things like "if you track for xx time, you'll need to upgrade cooling" or "this specific part is plastic and prone to failure so replace with this aftermarket part for track use" etc.

What failures have you seen? How do you address them?

Thanks all!

Truly, just brake pads (I use OEM GT3RS pads on my PCCB), Castrol SRF, alignment, my car is on adjustable corner heights so I can get it balanced to my specs, and I only run Hoosiers in the TTS on track days, and rarely the Trofeo R.

Engine, transmission, brakes run all day long in 100+ F weather, all temperatures (coolant, trans oil, engine oil) are at normal levels per my data logger.

The wheel hubs have a limited number of track hours, it applies to any car and any brand. I think it is something like 15,000 track miles, the info is in the 991 GT3 forum somewhere.

Even the restrictive muffler and cats hold well.

That has been my experience also tracking my 2015 991.1 TTS and 2018 991.2 GT3

How do those experiences differ between the GT and TTS on the track? The TTS surprised me about its capability on track more than the GT3 as far as expectation.

I think a few forum members have mentioned high banked tracks (daytona for example) can give these cars fits when it comes to sensors.

I would add the following to your maintenance schedule if you plan on doing events regularly:

- It is important to change the front and rear diff oil. Specially the front. I use Gibbs 75W/140. Change it every three days of track use.
- Depending on how aggressive you are going with camber and front width i would check axle flange, grease etc. I found one broken flange bolt and the grease was cooked. A lot of heat buildup specially the front.
- You'll go through breaks a bit faster do to weight and speed increase.
- I change the PDK oil at least once a year. (probably too much but rather be conservative and preempt other issues)
- After 15k-20k track miles you'll need to service the turbos

You will need suspension reconfig for more camber if you run anything but OEM Pirellis and want optimal track tire wear/temps. Whats needed depends on tires, skills, etc.
Ie look at camber plates, control arm changes. Others have hit main points, brake pads, fluids. Couple good threads to check out:

991 Turbo track car, Tracking the Turbo.

Enjoy.

If you are going to track a TTS, pull the PCCB rotors and put on Girodiscs and either Ferrodo DS3.12 or Girodisc ST43 pads. Put Xpel or another clear product over the headlights. Install a Cantrell motorsports or other half cage with racing seats and harnesses. Optional, replace the muffler with Sharkwerks exhaust. Check out those threads listed by nolimits above for more info.
