Regrets?
I'm contemplating buying a CPO'd 991.2 Turbo. I'm coming from a modified 997 C4 that handles like a GT3, but just lacks the power. I'm curious to know if folks regretted giving up the naturally aspirated engine or manual, or maybe were not happy for any other reason.
I'll be driving the car I'm interested in this weekend, but did want to get a sense from those who bought Turbo(s). Any regrets and if so, why?
(I'm strongly leaning towards buying, but still have not come to grips with giving up a manual).
I would add that I recently bought.a 2019 MB C63S, so I'm not looking to add another car to the mix.

Actually I had a 991.2 TT- ordered one in fact. Great car, had Burm and standard brakes. Rock solid. The one thing I missed was the rev-happy nature from the engine...I had always wanted a GT3 so I pulled the trigger on a PDK GT3 and traded in the TT. GT3 has PCCB.
You have to be okay with a 7000 rpm redline. To me that’s what it came down to...and the nonlinearity of the revs as they build.
In the future 992 TT I wonder if they will raise the redline. I also will spec PCCB if I do it again.

I just went from a 2006 C2S mt cab to a 2009 turbo mt cab. I didn't want to give up the stick. I think I now have the best of both worlds. The turbo engine is different than the NA 2006 but is just as exciting in a slightly different, more powerful way. The Getrag transmission in the turbo is better than the Aisin in the 2006

I used to think the same....that is why I bought a 991 gt3 first. But that is really a track car. Now have TTS. It's the best car I have ever had....put a new exhaust and run on it and you will be hard pressed to find anything better. I have a 400 hp NA 996 if I want to do manual shifting which I love every now and then but guess which car I drive more?

I’ve owned a normally aspirated 996 with a 6 MT, a 997 turbo with a 6 MT, and now a 991 turbo s with PDK. I loved all three cars, but the 991 is my favorite. It’s sublime. I have absolutely no regrets.

Yea for a DD you will be hard pressed finding a better car than a TT or TTS. I stomp on in it to work and back and I don't stress about it having any issues. These are bulletproof supercars, very low maintenance compared to other cars that are comparable. After I drive my TTS into the ground I will for sure buy another one without hesitation.

I thought I'd miss the third pedal, but this PDK is so impressive in getting all of the performance potential out of this car (I wouldn't dare shift that fast on my own nor be quite so accurate at rev-matching (no double-clutching though)). I do use the paddles or shift lever and never the automatic modes.
As to linearity, it's hard to argue with a torque which peaks from 1700rpm?
Compared to what you're used to, once you drive it that CLICK you hear will be you pulling the trigger and funds flying from your wallet Enjoy!

If you are just lacking power in the C4 that handles like a GT3, to me it seems logical to replace it with a GT3 and not a TT, especially considering you already have the AMG. My $0.02. I loved my Turbo, but it's more suited to a DD IMO. I sold my Turbo and went back to a manual car that was more raw and fun to drive on the street. Both were weekend cars. I have now kept the Spyder (> 2 years) for far longer than the Turbo (6 months).
It's subjective, but drive both a GT3 and a TT before you transfer funds. Might as well drive a GT4 too.

I went from a stock 997.2 C4S with a manual to a 991.1 TTS cabrio 3 years ago. After 25k miles on the TTS, here are my thoughts but no regrets at all:
-The 997 feels much smaller and far more analog with the hydraulic steering (and of course the manual). The tts cabrio feels much heavier though the 4-wheel steering helps quite a bit at low speed maneuvers.
-I kept the 997 for about a month into my ownership of the tts. The acceleration of the tts is in a different league and made it hard to step back into the 997.
-I do miss the sound and responsiveness of the 997's NA engine. At higher rpms, my stock tts goes into silent mode and all I hear is air.
-The biggest issue I had with the tts was the combined delay of 1) the pdk sometimes taking a moment to sort itself out before downshifting in response to mashing the accelerator, and 2) the minor but noticeable turbo lag. I find that both of these issues are reduced significantly when I shift in manual mode. But...
-The paddle shifters feel plasticky and weak and do not inspire confidence when you do a pull. I shift almost exclusively with the pdk gear selector these days.

Came from a 991.1 GTS with a MT. Do I miss my NA engine or my clutch pedal?- yes, but given a choice to have one only my choice would be TTS by long shot. It's on completely different level.

I have the same car ownership (although my turbo is non-s) history plus I had a MT 991.1 c4. I also test drove a 991.2 c2s. There’s no comparison- sublime is the best adjective. I can’t stay out of it.
