Default Prime example how modifications may not add value

Here is an example how this owner added performance mods and I don’t think it added to the value. What do you guys think?

from what I've been told by my local dealer, mods subtract about 10K from the resale value

but I'm more interested in the cars value to me

I actually was interested in this car, and going to see if anyone here owned it. But I think what also makes this a tough sell is that interior color choice, its not for me. I think how much the added value/subtracted value depends greatly on the mods and were they done by a reputable company.

Actually, $118k for a car with 37,000 miles is no bargain. I don't think the mods are affecting the asking price at all on this particular car. (Of course, that's the asking price...)

Interested in this car also, but the gt3 style bumper mod is a real turn off.

Mods are hard to sell installed on the car. Only certain people want certain mods. It is almost always better to return the car to stock and then sell it and part out the mods separately.

I wonder what he got on trade in towards a new car, if he indeed ended up with a new car.

That is a great reason not to mod your car or at least like you said return it to stock.

My main mod is the radar/laser detector that is installed. I usually offer that to the new owner for 50 cents on the dollar, and if they don't want it, I have it removed.

My other mod is a 991.2 steering wheel but I can't imagine a buyer wanting to swap that back to the crappy original steering wheel.

those are two good mods!! And ones I would like to come across in my search for a 911.1 turbo. Also a car that has some paint protection film is an added bonus to me.

I agree, most folks would fare better returning to stock and then selling.

I mod every car to make it the way I want, I know the mods will PROBABLY never get a dime back, there are exceptions like wheels, and certain very rare cars, it's just how it is, been doing this a long time, I'm old
