I’ll add a few comments: Sometimes older winter tires perform poorly, even though they have decent looking tread. The rubber compound can get stiff with age and become less pliable, rendering the tires ineffective in cold weather. I don’t know how to tell when a winter tire has gone past the useful life, other than how they feel and perform. I typically use mine for three seasons and then replace them. I’m not saying that your tires need to be replaced, but you should consider it if you install them and the car doesn’t seem to perform well.

Nearly the same - not enough of a difference to throw away tires that have tread. Also, Michelin has Pilot Aplin 5 now, which is supposed to be a bigger step forward, but it's not available in Porsche sizes this season. So I'd use the tires you have for another winter (assuming good tread) and replace with the new Pilot Alpin 5 next winter.

Thanks for the heads up on the PA 5's. Looks like they have them in Porsche sizes in Canada: https://www.michelin.ca/CA/en/tires/...t-alpin-5.html
I wonder if these will become available later this winter in the USA. Or if I could possibly order a set now from Canada.
