Default Frunk pops open while washing car...?

So I washed my car the old-fashion way today with a bucket and hose. The key was in my pocket and the frunk popped open twice when water splashed above the latch -- like the system interpreted the water to be my hand asking for a hands-free opening. I ended up putting the key inside the house while I washed it to stop the frunk from popping open. Does this happen to everyone or is my car special?

LOL. Happened to me in the same situation. Was like what the hell is going on thinking the car was possessed.

I always put the key in the house when I wash my car..which I do once or twice a year regardless of whether it needs it.

Just leave the key in the car, and you will be fine. I forget every now and then, always surprises me.

Do you have keyless entry/drive?

If so, then when the sensor detects mass by the frunk - by the crest - with the key in your pocket, the system is going to open it.

Keep the key somewhere else while washing and you shouldn't have a problem.

Every 911 I have ever owned does this. I always forget to put the key inside the car first, but that does stop it.

Ironically, the only time the damn things opens is when washing the car......never when your hands are full in the grocery store parking lot!!

yes, I agree it seems hit or miss. I actually thought there might be some setting somewhere that I was too lazy to look up. You'd think Porsche would pick a sensor that can distinguish water from a hand. If the key is inside the cab, I it won't pop open even if a pigeon lands there or whatever?

This is my experience, too. Frunk only opens when I don't want it to!

Get a GT3 and it won't do that

Just kidding when I had my Turbo I just left the key in the car on the floor and it wouldn't do it.
