Default 991.2 Turbo Spoiler failure/stuck

Hi all,

I have a 991.2 Turbo, new COBB unit was installed.
Following the install, the spoiler is now stuck in the fully extended position. Button doesn't respond. When I drive, the spoiler does not move and at high speeds, the car throws spoiler failure red faults.

Not sure if the issue is electrical or mechanical. Reset of ECU/battery etc doesn't fix the issue. Next step is to take the car to the dealer, but any advice or troubleshooting information would be appreciated.
Maybe the mechanic caused an issue inadvertently, or maybe it is coincidence- but that seems unlikely given the spoiler was messed around with for ecu removal.

Thanks all.

Did you try putting it back to the stock program? It sounds mechanical and probably not a COBB issue, did you contact COBB? Did you get this thru Sam? Did you contact him? All these questions

Yes. I tried to reset to stock software
I've contacted both COBB and Sam. I'm just trying to see if there is a fix prior to going to the dealership.

If I hold the spoiler control button down for about 40 seconds it goes down. Then when I drive it pops back up. The front spoiler isn't moving at all and is in the retracted position.

I'm not saying the issue is caused by COBB, but it's a weird issue. Last option is dealer can try reset the spoiler...

Sorry you’re still dealing with it bud. I can almost guarantee it has to do with the work that was done on the car. Either a fault was it which is stored and needs to be cleared by the PWIS, or there is a sensor or connection not connected or 40 after everything went back together performing work on the car. Kind of like the issues you had and they got it off the diner with most of those cleared up. The dealership should be able to diagnose it in seconds. Let us know please

Is there any rip or tear in the front spoiler? That will also cause that error

Thanks for the tip. No rip or tear.

The only other thing that was done was the installation of lowering springs and 21 inch wheels. Maybe there is an installation fault there, something unplugged or perhaps something needs to be recalibrated...

I don't know if the issue that I had can help, but after installation of an installed Escort radar/laser system, I had the same issue. It sounds very similar to what you are experiencing. In my case, it turned out to be a pinched/kinked air line to the front spoiler, in the right, front wheel well. The air lines can easily be pulled out and kinked, which produces errors similar to what you're seeing. My mechanic identified the issue, then pulled the lines back into the trunk space, eliminating the kink in the line. Problem solved. I hope this helps.

My 18 TTS is at the dealership for “spoiler failure” issues. They had to replace the front spoiler due to a leak in the air bladder.... $5k covered under warranty.... hope this helps

My '15 TTS did the same.

My '15 TT also displayed the spoiler deployment error. In my case:
- spoilers front and rear worked manually just fine.
- above 75 mph the rear wing would move to the first position and
- then lower again once speed dropped.
- but, only the first time after starting.
On subsequent transitions through 75 mph the rear wing would not deploy and the spoiler error would appear.
Stopping and starting the car would enable, again, a single deployment of the spoilers at speed.

In my case, replacement of the "Control Assembly" or "Control Box with integral pressure sensor" is reported to have cured the problem. I haven't had a chance to test since I picked it up last Tuesday.

Part number 991-358-191-03 list $1002 and 2.4 labors hours of diag and R&R.

FYI.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Turns out it was human error- a small sensor was not connected! Can't believe it. All sorted now and I'm really enjoying the base level tune for now. Looking forward to my custom map thanks to Sam.

Cheers.

Happened to me numerous times since being "fixed" by Dealer. Becoming a real PITA.

I just received the "Spoiler Failure - Reduce Speed" code tonight.
Random... I was in Sport Plus with Aero Deployed and was getting on the hwy.
Once up to speed I got the code. Now the front and rear spoilers will not deploy. At speed or manually.

Few threads and a few people seemed to have found electrical issues / gremlins. One had it fixed by just unplugging / replugging some connection.

Thoughts?

Okay folks!! I need suggestions here before having to take It in. There HAS to be a hard code set or a connection that's just dirty or something I can check. Maybe a bad sensor for the 75 mph speed deployment that can be replaced.

I was driving in Sport Plus yesterday in town just before hitting the hwy. Spoilers deployed
Hit the hwy. got up to speed and must have hit 75 mph and got the Spoiler Failure displayed.
Spoilers deactivated with the button but would Never deploy again after that manually.
I pulled the positive cable on the battery today and I was immediately able to manually deploy them WITHOUT any error or malfunction.
Drove it again and just as soon as I hit the 75 mph sensor deployment, I get the code again. I did this reset and check TWICE!!!

Some people have been charged Stupid amounts of money by dealers to replace all the components to fix their similar issue but there's NO WAY mine can be anything other than an electronic / programming / code issue.
PLEASE watch my vid and let me know your thoughts and / or suggested fixes. Maybe there's a plug I need to disconnect / reconnect and / or clean that just malfunctioning. Where would these be????
