When the 992 comes out everyone will bitch about Porsche ruining it and the 991 #2 being the best 911 and last real drivers car. Just like the 991 #1 is the last best right now. Get the latest now, sharpen your pitchfork and get your torch ready so you can heckle along with us when the new one comes out.

From what I've read, the 992 is set to come late 2018 as a 2019 model, but that's just for the base models. I'd guess the 992 TTS bows sometime in 2020 as a 2021 model. That's still a long way off.
If you are really worried about the 992, why not get a lightly used 991.2 TTS? Already has a slight depreciation hit and no waiting for a build so you can enjoy it now then trade it in for a new order on a 992 TTS. At least that was my plan when I purchased my 991.1 TTS earlier this year (10k miles and over 30% off original MSRP).

do I wait? What's everyone hearing on actually when the 992s will be made available to order and deliver? I have a 17 C2S Cab special order and I'm already antsy for a new one, so am thinking Mexico blue turbo cab .... however, I don't want to spend 200k and have the 992 come out months later (save your judgement, it would drive me crazy) ..... right now would take delivery of turbo in April 18 ..... and am worried dealer might be sayin 992 is far off just so I order this one

Heard the 992 should be out late 2018 as a 2019 model.

If depreciation is what you're worried about-- maybe keep what you have or consider trading it for a used 991.1 turbo(s) to hold you over till 992 time.

It stands to reason that it is at least 2 years away. Porsche is always making new crap. A refresh or new generation is always a couple years away. It's what makes Porsche so profitable.
I imagine the 992 will have at least 610 HP since the executive series has 607 and I expect that to come out as a power package for the 991.2.
Porsche is very careful about denoting hierarchy with HP figures, so I expect the 992 Turbo To get 570 HP (can't surpass the 991.2 Turbo S) and the Turbo S to get 610.
Either way, who cares? You're always 2-3 years away from a refresh. You're not factoring in the lost enjoyment from waiting for something that hasn't even been announced.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a deal, today, I would ignore the 991.2 all together and get a low mileage, high specced 991.1 Turbo S and then get a 992 when they came out.
If you already have a 991 Turbo, just mantain it until the 992 comes out, you will be missing a lot less than you would if you had a 991.2 Turbo when the 992 came out.
Again, if you want a deal when the 992 comes out, upgrade for a 991.2 Turbo.
Or just get the 991.2, and then the 992.2 and so on.

Isn't that the truth! The 991 owners will talk about the 992 being too big and luxurious, more of a GT car than a sports car. They will talk about how the 991 is raw and visceral, and the 992 is soft. They'll talk about how the 991 is the last real 911, the last true Porsche sports car.
