14-15 991 tt/tts dealer discounts
I m on the look for a 14-15 tt or tts. Of course i am lookinh for lower mile cars. Probably wont go ober 20k miles and ideally certified.
What discount should i be negotiating with the dealers? is a 10% discount from asking too crazy to ask? Dealers actually give 4-6% on new cars...
The way i see it is that these are 1st gen 991s while the 2nd gen has been out for some time where you actually started seeing 2nd gen cars being offered for sale on the used car market...
I am on the east coast.
Any opinions?

I've been poking around in the 14-16 TT/TTS market, been very patient and do not believe 10% off ask is a number you can get on a decent build, low miles, CPO. the 14's are anywhere from low 130's (maybe high 120's for non-CPO non-P dealer) to mid 140's (this if for TTS) and I believe depending how long the car is on the lot, 5% is doable. I find having competing cars that you can show the salesperson to take to management sometimes helps.
This is not to say a dealer may get aggressive on your trade, if you have one, offer a decent discount or even close to the 10% off ask depending on what they paid for the car. In watching the market, I see them same cars over and over with small reductions every couple weeks. This is how they play. Rather than just give you 13K off ask, they wait it out and slowly lower.
Bottom line, can't hurt to ask and work your way up. Also easier to go up in your offer. Much harder to lower your offer and be taken seriously.

I think it really depends on the dealer and how long the car has been sitting on the lot since there is a fair amount of variation in CPO pricing. I was only able to get around a 4% discount for my 2014 TTS cab earlier this year (CPO, 10k miles) but the dealer I purchased from is one of the more aggressive ones when it comes to used inventory. The car had also only been in inventory for about a week and I was competing with another potential purchaser.

A few other things can come into play. I bought my 2014 TTS cabriolet last year as a CPO car. I bought it at the end of the summer, when convertible season was coming to an end. This gave me a little bit more bargaining power. I ended up getting about 7% off of the dealer's asking price. I had more ability to sweeten my deal by negotiating on the value of the 997 TT cabriolet that I was trading. As expected, the dealer's initial offer for my 997 was low. We went back and forth a few times before we agreed on a trade-in price.
Unusual colors can also impact the dealer's willingness to move a car. Most Porsche buyers want a black, silver, grey, or white car. Those cars move quickly. Anything else moves a bit more slowly, and it can sit on a dealer's lot for a while. They are often motivated to get unusual colors off of their lot as quickly as they can.

I found a few cars that I will calling on as soon as I get back from Europe.MOst of them are 2015s some TT and some TTS.
Would you consider a TTS in the 15-20k mile that is CPO? I have found a few non S cars that look very clean and they anywhere in the 6-12k mile range.
At the end of the day I am also considering a brand new 2018 991 GTS is i find the combo I want. But the TT is definitely a childhood dream.
I found a few cars that I will calling on as soon as I get back from Europe.MOst of them are 2015s some TT and some TTS.

On the 1st gen i dont really mind the s or non s car. The engine hardware is exactly the same. Just the tune is different. If we were discussing a gen 2 car, then yes the s is the way to go. But gen 2s right now is outside the agreed budget with the boss, aka wife... A gen 1 car which most likely will be tuned, wont have a difference. The carbon brakes, aws and some othwr options are not a deal breaker for me.
