Has anyone replaced a lip yet - DIY? Anything special about the install? It appears straightforward but would like to have some experienced views.

Did you hit a curb while parking, or was this damage from bumps on the road? Do you have the front lift system?

Neither, I have a small indentation about 1/4 inch from a road hazard. Not a big deal but for $179 and not too large a replacement task, I would undertake the change.

I have the FAL and would NOT own a GT3 (driven on the street) without it. I have a C2 with SPASM and no matter how careful I am, the front spoiler is all scraped and that car is 10mm higher than the GT3.

I've replaced mine two or three times. It's a wear item IMO. There are two screws and then it has a bunch of tabs that pop out as you pull on it. Definitely doesn't require a lift (or FAL).

It is very hard to save the lip without prying the tabs from the bumper. I was able to save the scratched lip
by using a trim tool removal to pop the tabs. You will tear the old lip otherwise. I was able to save the lip, and sand the scratches, and now looks almost new, and is reusable.

To save the old lip, line up the new lip on the ground along the bumper to see where all the tabs are located during removal.

Thank you for this. I was planning to save the old as an emergency repair. Most people would think I am crazy to replace the one I have, but I am a bit OCD about appearance. Must be a deep rooted psychological issue.

I'm OCD about it too but I'm getting better. I've had a new one sitting in my office for about two months but I've resisted the urge to install it! I think just having it sitting there ready in case I need it has calmed my nerves.

Dumb question: can you just run without the front lip? I took the front spoiler off my exige and it gave it better front clearance than my Elise.

Depends how you run. The front lip creates frond end downforce. Personally, I am a track rat, so I would not run without a lip. I have been on the track with various 911's and they get loose in the front above 130mph. This occurs under full acceleration.

Do you have a schematic on how to remove the GT3 front lift? Is it DIY?

Right, understood, but no reason not to just leave it off for street driving other than appearance, correct?

If it's a hard strike, the plastic splitter will take the hit. I'd worry that without the splitter there, you'll hit painted metal which will cost much more to repair. I'd leave it in place. Better to have a beaten up splitter than the alternative.
