I would of thought so too but I must admit I have not really seen the two options side by side. I thought the surround looked better as it is a bit more discreet like a pinstripe whilst the vents is quite in your face.
Does anyone have any pics of the two? In Oz the configurator does not show it in your build - only a close up example, not a complete interior shot.
I'm still on the fence on this one but it's an expensive option ($2750) from memory.

I Couldn't find many pics of painted surrounds, but lots of pics of painted slats with stitched surround.
I agonized over doing these bits but my build was stretching well into the $170k range even without any special paint so I really tried to limit my leather and fun options. If speccing the vents in leather could have hidden all the shiny silver plastic crap in the car, I would have gone for it. But even if you select every option, the door handles, base of the shifter and a few other bits still show up silver no matter what, so I gave in and left the vents stock.

On a GT3 the surrounds in paint appear to give you slats in leather and the slats in paint give you the surround (including the sides) in leather (seems like deviated stitching too based on configurator). On lesser models there are additional permutations. I considered painted slats in deviated black to eliminate the silver trim, but the configurator only allows deviated paint on the vent surrounds option. I think you would have to call exclusive, but I think you can do deviated color on the slats too if you know what to ask for. Regardless, I think the all leather slats and surround look best, but it is not an option on the GT3 configurator.

Cheers for that. The slats certainly stand out more.
