On the title subject, that kind of accident is typically the sports car fault, going too fast. So don't expect a confesion. Ha ha. It's riskier and riskier going fast on public roads, with all the cell-phone distraction and driver stupidity. At least looks like there were no injuries. And yes, don't know how much that damage would cost to repair, but it'd surely be upwards of 25 grand. Jumping a curb like that has to have caused suspension damage as well... as a minimum. Good luck to that guy.

considering the cost of those 15k fenders and that CF hood, my guess is this is going to be quite costly! even if the passenger side fender is ok, the left side will need to be replaced, there's a good chance the frunk hood will need to be replaced, the bumper needs replacing, door looks damaged, the rockers will need work, the lights and that's just outward aesthetics! Doesn't even take into consideration any suspension and radiator work that'll need to be done. Throw that thing on a jig just to make sure the chassis didn't bend and who knows what lay underneath (most likely not too much because of the underside panels that do a pretty good job of protection. But my estimate at first guess is up in the 75-90k range when all is said and done. Just glad it looks like nobody was hurt in this accident. If the person is a member here, sorry to see this. But glad you got to walk away!

actaully I find it a bit more biased torwards neutrality or more likely to oversteer than my 991 GT3 was, I also find it more willing to break the back end loose under power

You get what you pay for...fix probably isn't a problem with the frame rails undamaged. Just expensive parts.

I saw a McLaren go sideways into a curb - the parts were also expensive, but the location around the tub totaled it...

Wasn't totaled but any other car would have been- 140mph at initial curb impact. Driver / passenger unharmed. Weirdest thing on that one was the shattered rear rotor from the 2nd impact.

Probably more like 130k if you add diminished value depreciation to it after a hit like that

Looks more like the car hit something before ending up one the island. Most of the damage is above the spoiler. Cant tell if the airbase deployed.

Mark.

what a shame.
I wrecked my brand new 2003 GT2 before the 1,000 mi with wifey in the car. All my fault. More damage than this guy.

Definitely riskier on public roads these days. One of the reasons I will probably end up not daily driving my 991 gt3 for much longer. Love daily'ing it but I'm always having to be hyper-vigilant in regards to others on the road. In 3 months have already had 2 others almost hit me during lane change because of not looking. Avoided both because I saw it coming. Had a Carerra S before the gt3 and someone who was actively texting going down the middle of a decline clearly out of their lane in a parking garage mowed into me. Not nearly half as bad in terms of damage as the RS in this thread but still never drove the same afterwards. Its almost safer on the track than daily driving.

The chance you take on public roads. If you have to worry about that stuff you will never enjoy it.

Really? Don't want to pile up on that guy, but that's beyond stupid... and also why so many people think Porsche drivers are douchebags. At that speed on a freaking street, a lot of people could have been killed. And the worst thing is the driver probably is a middle-aged guy who should have known better, and with a lot to lose in a lawsuit. Geez.
