Nice virgin Egg! Did you get a platesetter for when you smoke? The indirect heat is key. Chicken looks delicious!
yep, have the platesetter and may use that on the next session.
thinking ribs or pulled pork.
the chicken came out pretty nice. just went with olive oil, salt and pepper.
we wanted to see how much smoke flavor it would get from just the lump coal.
If you're new to the egg, would recommend chicken, ribs, tri tip as entry level smokes. Pulled pork can take 14 hrs done right. It's awesome when you get it right but it's a lot of work. Highly recomend 3-2-1 method for the ribs. Bone just pulls away from the meat and has tons of flavor.
For me, NOTHING compares to a CGT at full song. Greatest sounding production car engine ever built.
V10's sound great. The V10 in the CGT sounds like a freaking V10 F1 Car. Sublime. Worth owning just to hear the sound. One day I'd love to get a ride in one.
Step #1: Go to Arsicault bakery in SF; buy lots of pastries
Step #2: Present box of pastries to mooty and ask for ride in CGT
Step #3: Wail like a teenage school girl while riding in CGT (see avatar pic)

That Egg is soooo clean, lol.
Dfinitely use the platesetter. I use it for most cooks. Think of the egg as a wood fired oven when usd this way and the cookingucn methods translate well. Just much tastier and juicer. For that chicken, I would definitely have gone indirect to keep it from drying out or burning.
You’ll find how much smoke the lump gives off is a function of which lump and how you’re burning. BGE lump definitely gives a smokier flavor. Also, if you put the food on earlier, in my experience, it will get more smoke. I have switched to Rockwood. I like the flavor better, less smoky. When I want smoke, I add chips or chunks.
Its a a great tool. So versatile and just about everything it makes is fantastic. Last night I made stuffed pork chops with chorizo and cornbread stuffing and poblano cream sauce and grilled asparagus. It was fantastic.
I actually bought a BGE just to keep it on my deck and wait for it to increase in value. There, doesn't that sound ridiculous?
PS: Downloading the Garmin European cycling maps for my Garmin 1030. Trip booked to Barcelona for next weekend. Expect lots of cycling and eating pics.

smart man! i have another BGE mint in box in storage for investment purpose.
aren't you worried about the extra write cycles on the memory chip impacting the value of the Garmin?!?
did some more foaming yesterday. using a SunJoe SPX3000, Chemical Guys TORQ foam cannon and their Honeydew Snow Foam.
not getting the full on fluffy, shaving cream looking foam action, but the cars are definitely coming out cleaner looking.
may need to hire Mooty's kids for wheel and underside cleaning. i can go as high as whole can of soda each plus snacks!
