Default radar a .1 RS

what do you all recommend for a good radar for the gt3RS?
any good threads on best place to tap into a power source perhaps up top behind the rear view mirror or better to run it from down load behind the dash?? ive always used valentines, but not sure if something is better these days and best way to tap into power in these machines...don't want to whack up any electronics.

I probably should run one...but in my area it's almost all laser, so radar detectors don't do much anymore unfortunately.

Looking forward to other replies as maybe I should set one up for longer trips.

Your question can re-open a long debate.

I think the, not too expensive route, is get a Escort Max 360 and have it hard wired in with the mute button positioned where you are comfortable. This way if you sell/trade your car you do not have any thing to remove and you can also move to your DD and back and forth. You can update the software on it every couple months and they have made some great improvements.

It has saved my **** literally a dozen times the last 2 years. Also - it will pickup Lasers and it will let you know it but you only have seconds to react but enough time to also save you.

There are many radar detectors out there but the Escort is a good all arounder. Some have better response time ect but I like one that could do it all and I like that the software can be updated so one you can keep a very long term

V1 with savvy and custom sweeps (cuts falses to almost zero). Run Waze as a far better laser detector at all times if u are in a metropolitan area where people are updating it every second.

Love my Passport 9500 and if buying today would probably go 360. Has saved my *** more times than I care to think. I move mine back and forth between my RS and DD so I just put on windshield and run the cord under the passenger seat slider lever and into the center console power for smart button access.

I have a V1 too but almost never use it anymore.

What I believe rosenbergendo is trying to say is that the information provided on Waze is based on the amount of users on line in a given area. When you first start the app look at the very bottom of the screen. It will show how many users are on line - the more people on line the more information you will have regarding police locations, accidents etc.

Immediately after showing the number of users on line the app will tell you how many reports are in your area.

For example if your in NJ rush hour traffic on a Friday in summer you'll have lots of users on line an therefore lots of data. If your in the middle of rural Iowa on Tuesday at 2 AM you probably will have very few users on line so in a case like this I use my radar detector as my primary source of information regarding police activity.

Once you enter your destination you will briefly see a screen that looks like the first photo I have attached.

To get an overview of your route " touch " the very top of the screen and you will turn by turn directions and an option that says " REPORTS AHEAD " select reports ahead and you'll get an overview of police activity, accidents, traffic etc. - see the 2nd photo.

I've had V1 for years and still use in this the Boxster. I put the Stinger Laser/Radar system in the GTS and it is amazing. Be prepared for a sticker shock.

I have an up to date V1, a 9500 and the new Escort iX...much prefer the iX. The V1 falses still way too much, the iX I actaully listen and leave on even in town.
