Agree, but it is much cheaper for Porsche to add power than to reduce weight (especially with the large 991 platform, the safety regs, and the bells/whistles the customers seem to demand).

If they wanted to they could. No sound deadening, compulsory no AC, plain door cards, no carpets, no trunk lining, standard Lithium ion battery, side muffler delete, no electric mirrors, windows, seats

Even if they did that you're still looking at ~3,000 pound car - not worth the austerity and still have that much weight. Lose 1,000 pounds and things start getting interesting

One of these days, the brilliant Porsche engineers need to figure out how to do a 911 carbon monocell like Mclaren, but less expensively, like maybe the carbon composite that Lambo is using.

Thats the only way to drop some real weight like 300lbs off these cars. That would transform the GT3/RS experience!

Unless you plan on checking out soon, I would speculate that the 992 chassis will indeed go on a major diet.. it's the only way to improve the breed.

No plans on checking out soon, plan on living to 100 then writing a book on how I did it. Just have other plans.

Do you know how much your car now weighs, with new engine? Likely heavier, but still with a great power to weight ratio.

Where are all the people who said the .1GT3RS would be the only 991 RS??? haha Just as funny as the "there will only be 500-600 RSs in the US" talk.

I'm surprised by the GT3RS.
Way down on power VS competition ....

That's why they are also building a GT2RS. It's all about the $$$ for Porsche.

I may still get one for warranty but otherwise it's not a big step up from GT3 and RS..
Impressive about the 9000RPM and how many GT cars they can pump out now. Didn't see that coming but it's all good news to me!!
