Default Does F engine top end rebuild solve the problem?

After scouring the misfire threads, seems like the "solution" offered up by PAG for issues arising in F-engine is a top end rebuild:

1. Does this solve the issue, or is it a band-aid?

2. How many folks have had the top end rebuild then experienced the problem again?

3. Is there any difference between failure rates in the F-engines above engine #03048?

4. Warranties will expire soon, so how much will a top end rebuild cost if paid for out of pocket???

1). No one knows
2) no one knows
3) no one knows
4) everyone is assuming Porsche will take care of them, since there is a well documented history of this engine issue

My F engine had a top end rebuild. No problems so far...but it probably too early to really know.

F engine warranty expires two year after purchase but can be renewed / extended for 7 additional years meaning 2024, so warranty is still long lasting

True in your country, but it's different in the US.

I'd be in for a 7 year extension in the U.S. Is that possible?

You can buy an EasyCare third-party warranty through the dealership finance manager. They're reasonably priced for the warranty, but I'm not sure how the claim process is. Thinking about doing it on my RS

I called EasyCare as my local Porsche dealership only offers NAC (National). My local dealer is trying to look into things more, but it is questionable that NAC would cover a "pre-existing condition" and would not pay for repairs resulting from misfire, etc. Thus, my question of how much would it cost out of pocket?

Anyways, I was told by EasyCare representative on the phone that there are no EasyCare dealers within a 200 mile radius of Seattle.

Since all the cars are still under warranty, no one has needed to pay out of pocket for top end rebuild. I would ask a dealer that question or find a dealer that has done this repair and they would have a better chance to give you the cost. If you get a quote, please share the info with us. Thank you.

Only labor,I can't see it getting away with less than 20 hours at the minimum. At 150$ an hour that's 3K $. Parts probably the same or a bit more. I'd say at least 8 grand out the door...

When my E had it's heads replaced, I was told that the allocation was 26 hours (at $150/hr) and $40k in parts. The parts for a rebuild should be lower but I'd think the labor would be this same. This stupid expensive...

26 hours of labor is absolutely possible and I wasn't far off with my estimation. But 40K in parts sounds way too excessive! I mean we're talking cams and finger followers here. Perhaps valves and valve springs...

Oops sorry, thought it was a world wide thing, what is the original warranty period in the US after that it can be extended for how long? What about Europe? I believe in the middle east or at least the Gulf countries what i mentioned earlier applies and each year extension is around $2,100
