GT3 resurection
Middle of september I hit a wall, definitely literally possibly figuratively. Not a total so I am using the track insurance proceeds to transform the car into a single purpose track toy. Body mods include front cup fenders, front and rear fascias and Crawford wing. New Forgeline 19" GS1Rs will be shod with 285 front and 325 rear. Interior to be stripped, front Lexan window, AIM dash with linked smarty cam and full cage, GT4 clubsport wheel, full fire suppression system. The only injury I got from the crash was a serious burn on my left arm from the airbag and I was wearing long sleeves so realizing I bought the car primarily as a track toy it seems the right time to make it so. Probably saves me $6k+ a yr road insurance and excise tax that I can better use on tires and maintenance. Finishing touch will be custom wrap. I will post pictures as the build comes along with launch date of mid-April so I can go wreek more havoc.

Glad you are OK. The first picture is heart breaking but the story warmed my heart right back up. That's the way to do it. Will you use Hoosiers or slicks? Any changes to the bushings?
Good for you, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Already upgraded the end links on the sway bars and upgraded the suspension controller. Reading about the Crawford wing I'm looking forward to losing the rear shake under full braking at the end the straights. In my mind the wider front tires will allow me to carry more speed into the turns. Time will tell.

I have a 10% deductible and taking almost $10k for the headlights, airbags & steering wheel, ac condenser and a few miscellaneous items are being redirected towards some of the upgrades.

The GS is their track wheel and is stronger for that kind of abuse. Also custom offsets to get the extra rubber inside the wheel wells. Thanks for the offer though, someone should definately pick them up.

Sorry to hear about the crash, but good to hear you weren't badly injured and have come up with a great project. Did you consider a cup rear wing like in the picture of your wrap? Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience!

Talk about making lemonade...
Great that you're ok. Very cool project.

How did you get the burn from the airbag? Is that common when the airbag goes off?
Also, how did it occur even though you had long sleeves on?
I've been thinking about switching out my stock wheel with airbag
for a removeable race wheel. This might be another good reason to do it.

I kept my hands on the wheel to control the crash and the propelent burned through my shirt on my left arm a few inches above my wrist and left behind a nice scar. It will be my scarlet letter reminding to quit when I get tired a lesson I learnt a long time ago skiing. I had a 1/2 cage and 6 pt harnesses and I didn't even move so the airbags themselves never touched me. If I kept the airbags it would have been time to go to a fire resistant suit which I will probably do any way.
The right rear qtr got dented going through the barrier. It was all driver error with too much speed going into a turn and 2 cars on my tail I had a micro-second for my brain to figure out it was safer to hit a barrier than spin and take 2 other cars with me. Literally, the cost of life in the fast lane.
