I tried multiple times buying one but at end of the day had a hard time paying 40-50 k over Msrp out of principle not lacking in funds
anyhow im on the top of my local dealers list for the .2 gt3 which I'm fine with waiting. Still have 4 other cars to drive in the meantime
And if I still have The RS itch swapping out a MT .2 for an RS I'm sure won't be a problem

in EU you can buy since beginning of 2016 GT3 and since 3 months RS for MSRP
even a bit lower if above 10k miles.

so everybody who wants one for driving should have one.

Sounds similar to my story. I had a RS at MSRP, but was sold 1 week before lock date to someone else.

Personally, I probably could afford $20K over MSRP, but it would be a big stretch. Paying MSRP was already a big stretch. The main issue for me was paying over MSRP. That whole concept eludes me.

I know it's been discussed to death on here, but I am of the mindset that you work hard for a long time, save money for a long time and are passionate about a particular purchase. These are challenging things to achieve. The actual purchase of something (car) is supposed to be the easy part of the process. Currently, it is the most challenging part. I recall reading someone's story who called over 40 dealerships in the U.S. to try to get an allocation for MSRP. I don't remember the outcome.

Conclusion of all this extraneous dialogue...patience.

Not entirely true. There are many people who do not want to pay over MSRP for many reasons. There are many people who had an allocation at MSRP and it was taken from them. These 2 issues can definitely affect a person's mentality towards the car, brand, company, dealership, etc.

Paid 20k over for my '16 GT3 configurable allocation. Very happy with the purchase and love every minute in the car. Porsche would have had no problem selling the car at higher MSRP - it's a great value and that is why the used ones were clearing the market above MSRP when I pulled the trigger. No apologies from me. Third 911 for me and 1st one I bought new.

I would have bought one, cash, if I had gotten a slot for a low-optioned build. At the time we didn't have all the details about the car, so maybe it is for the best. On the other hand, the prices for non-GT new Porsches are even more out of control now, so maybe I would be very happy.

I'm not interested in picking up a used one even if it was fairly priced. At that range I want my own color choice and I would have babied and monitored the engine every single minute of its lifetime.

Maybe if a dark blue came along with a fresh engine swap...

ETA: I don't think the RS is for me. I would actually drive it and the parts price for the front fender is... what is it made of again? I like the vented front fenders, but otherwise I think the 991 GT3 is one of the best looking Porsches ever made, and that the RS has elegance limiting optical properties. Plus it is too expensive, PCCB only etc.

My understanding is that RS production is over for all intents and purposes as of this month/December based on orders placed months ago.

No more RS production.

Even if they are ahead of schedule on builds, I'm told production goes past Dec 1 - up to around the middle of Dec. Maybe early Dec if they are ahead. We are close to the end, but not there just yet.

I assume they MUST be done by the end of Dec or they can't call it a 2016 any more.

So it sounds like most are right when saying, "most who wanted one, get's one". 991.1 GT3 that is.
