Fat chance on an ACR even being considered for EVO COTY. I think it will be between the Focus, 570 and the M4/M2 from the list OP has in 1st post.

How come?

The Camaro Z/28 was a finalist for eCOTY 2015.

1. m2
2. 570s
3. 911r

My rankings would be
1. 911r
2. 570s
3. m3

I should have said seriously in the running as a finalist. I am used to the ACR or Vipers in general getting snubbed by stateside media constantly due to its track/street focus. Considering most of those cars mentioned are going to be more comfortable and offer a better all around experience than an ACR I would assume that the Euro mags may vote on it similarly as the American auto press usually does when coming down to picking the finalists. I would be highly surprised to see it as a "finalist" with cars like the 570S, 911r, M4 GTS etc that are both fast and comfortable on street. Lap times alone usually don't help a car place high or win these kinds of tests.

I don't think they've even tested an ACR yet?

They won't put a car they haven't tested into eCOTY obviously, but they might request one for TCOTY.

The Z28 they had was - IIRC - privately owned, registered, and offered to evo, not courtesy of GM.

The reason you're unlikely to see an ACR tested in Evo, or present at eCOTY, is not because they are euro snobs who make fun of Americans and our taste in cars, but rather courtesy of limited press car fleet size and budget that FCA/SRT has to work with. Recall that the Viper is a dead man walking...

Good point.

Plus, with American manufacturers (Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet), there's very little incentive to hand out a press car for a Euro magazine where the target audience has very few, if any, prospective buyers of their cars. (Though I do understand the base Mustang is doing very well in the EU.)

Some way, some how, the 911R by a nose.

my prediction:

350R
570S
M4 GTS
Focus RS
M2

bmw's are all under a port-installed recall for bad differentials right now. M4 GTS would win but because they are probably recalled as well, something will have broken on the test car and it won't win.

911 R - "The most "evo" car we've ever tested, and the finest 911 of all"

570s - "Sparkles of incandescent brilliance and we just can't wait to try the forthcoming LT version, which could be a shoe-in next year"

GT350R - "Big, brash, brawny American is charismatic hero favorite, but loses out a bit to more sophisticated European brethren on fast Welsh B-roads"

M4 GTS - "We wanted to love the top dog M car but ..."

They have easy, enviable jobs

Not sure why the 911R is even viewed as a production car. Seriously. No one can buy it.

That should be the very first qualifier. If it can't be purchased by a member of the public it shouldn't be qualified.

I could see the Elise Race 250 winning it, EVO is a big fan of Lotus of course and for $76k it's pretty good value.

Wonder if they will include a 718 S and 991.2 TTS? 2012 they had the 981 S and 991 C2, so probably will.

I like this list.... the fact that the FoRS is even on there is pretty cool in my book.

A hot hatch that's quite fun to drive and pretty quick too!

Considering the s**t quality of cars manufacturers have putting out in the last few years,EVO should do an endurance test to determine which car wins. They should take all the candidates and drive them for month in the worst sh**ty conditions in hot and cold climates. The one that breaks less wins.

This makes no sense at all. I get that you come to this particular forum to troll about manual transmissions, but seriously, what are you smoking? Cars today are more reliable than ever. People used to complain about terrible mechanical problems. Now, most people complain about BT connectivity. Cars last longer and have considerably higher initial quality than every before. Yes, things break, but the things that break are not nearly as serious as they once were.

It's my pleasure to troll you Major every once in a while. Perhaps you'll finally realize the time you've spent in the barracks is long gone.
I'm sure you are perfectly satisfied with how the 991 GT3 engine turned out... And this is just an example, there are other manufacturers experiencing similar problems.
If I give you a modern car to diagnose why the dash has lit like a Christmas tree you would throw your hands in the air and scream for help. Good luck dealing with any of the modern cars after the warranty's up without paying ridiculous amounts of money so that the so called " technicians " can play swaptronics on your dime. Good luck dealing with carbon buildup, failing electronics, high fuel pressure pumps,DFI injectors, timing chain tensioners, thermostats etc. GOOD LUCK!
