OT: Wow the 570S in black is just so stunningly beautiful.

Super nice gareeb. Tasteful spec. One advantage of this car in black is that some people (not anyone here I suppose) would think this is a Cayman. Unless one plans to drive once in a while, stealth is always better in SoCal.

There are several McLaren dealerships with 3-5 570's sitting on the lot. I've seen some guys on the McLaren forum who have ordered cars with MSO options that have been waiting for months and experienced multiple delays but it doesn't look like supply is that tight if you're willing to buy one off the lot.

checked out a 570GT at local dealer a week or so ago. actually like the look of the GT more than the S. the one they have is available for test drives, so looking forward to driving one. salesman said it was about 3 month wait to get one.

If you don't spec it with all the carbon fiber I still think it looks great and is priced close enough to a turbo s that it's the car I would buy.

notwithstanding this black beauty...
the more i look at the 570s front (goofy grasshopper/mantis) and rear (surprised ET) the less i like it... really very contrived, cartoonish, to my eye... also the rear quarter view also bulbous/disproportionate and not elegant to my eye - to be sure black hides these details better than most colors
this having been said, i have driven the car at length and it drives really really well... conventional suspension is jiggly and gives the car a lively sporty feel (if not magic carpet ride of the 12c/650s fluid system)
and the interior has evolved very well and is very stylish AND functional
very compelling at $200k given the limited competitive offerings

Looks nicer than the 650 inside, especially with Alcantara only in non-wear areas (like it should be IMO). But also looks like a 4x4; what gives? Saw another like that under way, so don't think it's the lift activated (if available on that car). And 225 tires in front is just ridiculous with all that power and chasis. It's must understeer very early. The RS has 265s.

got to test drive the 570GT over the weekend. was very impressed. first time i've driven a dual-clutch, flappy pedal car and while my left foot wasn't sure what to do, i found other things to occupy my mind. like how much faster it felt than my 997.2 GT3!!!
the salesman did the first bit of the drive to explain some things about the car. got to a stretch of road that was clear and he hit the gas. seemed like once the car was around 3 - 3,5k rpm it just started pulling hard. sense of acceleration was much more than what i'm used to from the GT3 and didn't seem to let up. probably fastest feeling car i've been in.
got my chance to drive it and played around with the various suspension modes. they really did change the feel of the car quite a bit. in the softest setting, the car was smoother than my GT3 with PASM in normal mode. sport mode felt similar to the GT3. and track mode felt firmer than the GT3. haven't used the PASM sport mode in a while, so not sure where that would have fit in. i'd probably leave it in sport mode most of the time, but could see throwing it into normal mode for any around town or freeway cruising. track mode would be reserved for, well, tracks and nice smooth twisty roads.
did take it on a small stretch of twisty road, but was stuck behind a Tesla Model S for most of it. turned the car around and headed back down the hill and then got to have a bit of fun. the steering felt quite nice, though definitely lighter than the GT3. salesman said it is all hydraulic, but definitely seems to have a speed sensitive action. probably needed to go faster to have the steering feel a bit heavier. that said, i liked how the steering wheel had more of an oval cross section. felt comfy and provided a good grip.
interior is nice and the standard seats are quite comfortable. somewhat feel like the electronic dash stuff is a bit gimmicky, but at least the modes made sense and it was easy to see. the center display looks a bit weird to me. maybe because it's in portrait mode. it was easy to not bother looking at it though. also, since the GT has the full glass roof, it will be nice if they can get the electro-chromatic glass working so when you don't want the sun blasting on you it's just a push of a button to take care of that.
overall, very impressed and could see easily choosing it over an Audi R8 or Porsche Turbo S. plus, billionaire doors!
