They build these for the same reason that they waste their money and time on the Macan, Cayenne and Panamera and the Boxster-because people actually want to buy these things. Instead of taking more time and resources to build the DI 991 GT3 motor properly, they use current 991 GT3 owners as the beta testers and develop these other vehicles to grab part of that market. The 911 in all its forms is becoming less and less of a financially critical model for Porsche....

I'll take a nice sport wagon over these things any day. Too bad none of the German manufacturers want to sell us their offerings in this space.

You will see more of these models coming into the pipeline. Porsche already sells more non 911 models already. That has become their bread and butter. This isn't anything new to those who follow their sales mix. Walk into any Porsche dealer and what do you see a flood of?

Personally, I just like a nice SUV like the new Q7 or Cayenne GTS... These crossovers sure are ugly.
That thing is beyond ugly it's fugly. If Porsche really wants to make something that will sell for the women build a Porsche minivan. Lot of my friends with kids swear by the benefits of a sliding door on those things.

It'll be turbo to start with...you know, for emissions. A turbo S version of this fugliness will make the piggy sedan look like a winner.

Sad that their beautiful panamera based "sportwagon" from a few years ago is still nowhere to be seen, but a "coupe" version of the cayenne is all the rage. WTF
