I like the car, but I don't get to use it enough.

Quick back story:

I lived in Atlanta after college and owned a 993 (bought 2012) and later a 997.1 GT3 (bought 2014). In 2015 sold my 993 for a tidy profit and - the very next day - a teenaged rocket scientist hit my GT3, totaling it.

I got paid out on my first GT3, and I started shopping around and ended up buying a slightly used 2015 GT3 with buckets from a RL member.

Car was delivered from Maryland to Georgia in late June of 2016, and then ... I moved to Chicago for a promotion a few months later (unforeseen). I had planned to use it as a DD, as I had with my older Porsches, but I obviously don't need a car living in downtown Chicago.

I leave the car down there most of the time (I'm back and forth a lot), as I need a car when I'm home.

If this is your first winter in Chicago watch out for those potholes. I lived there for 6 years before getting fed up with too many things about the city, infrastructure being one of them.

Second Chicago winter; the car has been in Atlanta for a month and will be until May, most likely. I live in River North so can walk everywhere.

Yeah I only used it for trips, mostly to road America.

I plan to use it more next summer - Indy 500, Detroit race, wedding in WI, indycar at Road America, IMSA at Watkins Glen, IMSA at Mosport, The Hawk at Road America, IMSA at Road America, shipping to Cali for car week.

Mine won't tank. At least for the next years. I don't see anything close to it in regards to money vs. value.

^this. I think it depends on exactly what the market is looking for in the aggregate. Some of my friends that are purists (manual car owners, etc.) that have driven/owned PDK GT cars do not want to switch back to manual transmission cars. It's an interesting phenomenon that can vary based on whether the GT3 is your only car, your track beast, daily, etc.

First (light) snow of the year in Chicago right now...

I'd probably have to live out of my car in in SF; I have a friend whose rent increased by 253% when he moved to SF from ATL. Had to sell his Porsche too.

Only 253%? He's doing OK if like for like for that amount of $

The key: work in tech, AVOID living in SF/Penninsula. I know my tiny 3 mins walk to the beach socal bungalow would be at least 2x in Palo. 3 of my leadership team have moved to tax havens in the last year, TX and FL. I don't care where they live as long as they can be on a plane fast.

And yes, 991GT3 prices will follow the same curve every other porsche has followed. That means, DEPRECIATION.

Yep.

Oh, it's a chilly 65 here today. Heater was on this AM.
