I mean any development work on the drivetrain would have been done in order to bring the 911R to market.

i think would be cool if they use PDK box; but make it operate like a sequential shifter with a mechanical action to the shifter.. also for fun have a useable clutch pedal.. can push a button to use it or not. could be really cool.

I can't see in the photos but if the redline is at 8800rpm wouldn't that suggest it's the 9000rpm 3.8 with 200 revs chopped off for the MT like the R is the 4.0 chopped down to 8600rpm?

Good thing I put my deposit down at 2 dealerships a long time ago. My Z06 is on the chopping block once this releases.

Yes. I'm personally not a fan of the wings. I've tried, just not for me.

To me the redline looks like 8600. I could be wrong but if it is MT I would assume that PAG would leave some headroom for the hamfisted among us. The .1 RS is 8800, so with MT I guess 8600 makes sense,

I agree with you. Looks like 8600, just like the R tach. That makes me suspect it is (the same) 4.0L engine mated to MT. Here they are for comparison:

991.2 GT3 (redline extends just above the level of the "9" on the gauge)

911R (note where the redline mark goes above the "9" at 8600)

991.1 GT3RS (8800 is lower than the top of the "9")

8600-8800 rpm means 4.0 RS engine
Spoiler intake humps on 3D images leaked support this too. Anyone who thinks it will be turbo is clueless. The redline would not be that high.

As far as having a manual option is concerned. Porsche would not go out of their way to have a pdk car without paddles on a mule. The point of a test mule is to test all of the components. It is pointless to tease a manual and just come out with pdk.

Am I the only one here who would still get a pdk over manual if they are both offered?

If you look at the tach on a GT4, it looks like the redline is 7,600 but it's always listed as 7,800 in the literature and it lets you rev it to 7,800 before limiter kicks in. I imagine that the 4.0 in the 991.2 GT3 will allow 8,800 before reaching limiter.
