My first car was a Peugeot 106 Rallye

Had it for about two weeks, then my garage discovered it was about 75% rust. Technically not safe to even drive with it. Learned quite a few lessons there.

My first REAL one was 1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo.

It felt like fastest car in the world. And the sound of turbo was so loud and so awesome. Definitely was a special one. Reliability was crappy, so it only lasted one or two years in my hands till I sold it, but having it was emotionally worth every penny.

I remember thinking "Why the hell all cars are not turbos?". Now they are. I'm not sure I'm overly happy about it.

Quite a ride for a 16yo.

I was driving my dads orange '72 Vega wagon if I got permission.

I had a few beater sports cars in college, but they were upwards of 10 years old and 100k miles when I got them.

My first real car was a red Honda S2000. I bought it right as I took my first job out of school. Before the first paycheck hit my account even! I really loved that car - and it really sealed my passion for sports cars. Really enjoyed the ragtop, the sound of the engine, the great transmission... it was a great car.

I sold it to get our house - we did a custom home, and when we went to close the construction loan the auditors and the loan officers interpreted the recent lending laws very differently. We were required to bring a far more cash to close than we had discussed. We were really left in a bind.

Selling the car gave us what we needed, so I did it. That hurt. I bought a new 370Z nismo within a few days (financed so the banks were happy). That was also a great car and better in many ways, but it never emotionally connected with me like the S2000. I probably should have just put a loan on the S2000 and paid it off again, but that's life.

1958 VW with a mind bending 35 HP. The best MT u could buy for the money. Only needed it to get the car rolling. You could do all kinds of work on it and the thing would just keep going. First real car though was a 1971 Volvo 142E, with a rally dashboard. The thing had more dials than a WWII bomber. The brakes were Porsche quality, the injection system was something else though. Never sure if it would start or not. Sometimes went days dead in the garage only to start next time as if nothing. Great memories.

First car 1986 Midnight Red RX-7

First real car 2003 Nissan 350Z

Both amazing cars in their own ways. The RX-7 was special because I learned to drive stick. The 350Z had great performance.

Buddy of mine bought one new. We used to double date in the car all the time. Those were my trouble days.

My first car purchased at 16, a 1973 AMC Gremlin X in orange with the plaid interior, loved it!
