$500K for an R...wouldn't a 675LT make more sense, or do the people who can afford an R at market price already have a 675. If one was hell bent on MT, why not spring for any 997 GT3 variant at the moment. Like people on here mentioned, the PDK-S is a sweet transmission to have on these new 991 GT3's.

That last quote is spot on. Most 911R is treated like a combination of art and share on Nasdaq. Can't blame Porsche, they made a parts bin special. Sold almost a 1000 cars In one batch. $$$$$$.

Spot on Mike. I guess there will always be a group of people with money to burn that always want what they can't have. And Porsche knows that will always be the case ... so what better way to reward their VIP clients than to periodically award them the hot IPO stock! Create a limited amount of Unobtainium, wrap it with a purist bow, and only give it to your best clients! Wall Street has been doing this for a 100 years. They will love you for it and keep spending. It's a very exclusive club that many wish they could be part of. I'm just perfectly happy to be an owner of a GT3, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it! Don't need an R, but would love to flip one for a quick $300k!

I have said this multiple times that the 675LT makes a lot of cars at a lot of price points feel slow and look fat. I love mine. I also love MT in the GT3 and have the 997 variant. I also think the 911R is awesome and am getting one.

I guess that answers my question! Looking forward to your review of the R as I'm sure you'll put it through its paces.

But I have yet to met one person that tells me they prefer the 675 over the RS on a track.

They all concluded that the 675 is too soft on a track but absolutely great on the road.

Disregarding price, the R is the primary competitor to the 675. For some, the manual transmission is the clincher.

FYI No 918 owners in Aus and we are apparently getting 25 of them. Actually more the the 50th anniversary models (22) . Just goes to show how much they are making on our retail numbers. $475-500 Aus for one here, so cant imagine what a flipper price will be !

Big part of the is taxes though, 33% luxury car tax, GST, stamp duty etc. US price is what Porches gets less dealer margin, taxes are additional but much lower (7.3% for me in NY).

I always buy used in Australia and new in the US...

But if they flip any of their cars they bought because of being on "THE LIST" within a specific amount of time, for those in the Know how long is it (?) 18 months, before Porsche will kick your Dolphin Flipper *** off of the list. And you don't want that to happen now because there ain't nothing like being in line to buy a special edition Porsche and knowing that you "Should" get... even though Porsche did Still screw a few 918 owners out of their 911R allocations.
