Thanks for posting. Lots of info there.

- NA engine to stay for the GT program...at least for a while.

- Sounds like 991.2 is going to happen and with manual option.

- Long term plans seem to point to the GT3 to be dropped in favor of R and RS.

Saw that yesterday. I still say it could be lot's of speculation, but personally I hope Porsche continues to give it's buyers options. I guess it's at what percentage point of buyers do they drop the MT? Maybe never or atleast in my life time.

Pity about dropping the GT3 since it's price point, base price, is much lower between the R and GT3 RS! For some people that would steer them towards buying a non GT TYPE car even though the R doesn't have a GT in it's name.

Martin is now in contact with a lawyer to see if there is any way to reasonably claim that is a contractual offer.

I do not see PAG getting rid of the "GT3" Brand. It is just too valuable.

I agree. But...

There's a part of me that looks at Porsche as a business as well. Porsche pretty much sells all of the GT3s and GT3 RS models they produce. Has anyone figured out the profit margins on the GT cars? I remember reading posts from members who believed that they believed the profit margins were lower on the GT cars. From a business standpoint would Porsche benefit from dropping the GT3 and keeping the RS while significantly increasing the power, price and production numbers of the GTS models?

Would most of the GT3 loyalists move up to the RS? Would RS numbers increase? Would a higher power GTS finally give the "if you have to ask you should buy the turbo" crowd a simpler answer to their question?

Suspect dropping the GT3 moniker is in-line with changes coming down the pipeline for future FIA GT3 racing platform.

Porsche holds the GT3 so dear it forced Aston Martin to change its Vantage GT3 car name to "GT12" ... as in 1+2=3.

I think their R and RS themes make sense. Both are the "purist" models. One is designed for the joy of driving, and the other for posting fast lap times.

After all, the "RS" is what the GT3 wants to be anyways, so it is kind of stuck in the middle.

Can't a "purist" NA car be had for under $200K? More like a "privileged" car. Either this or turbo charged vacuum cleaners?

The GT3 should stay and would be nice to have a $140Kish option. Anyone wants a few upgrades, move upstream. Porsche shouldn't price itself too high. Easy to do when times are good, but things aren't always "good".
